I can't wait, right now my motor has more to give, but the rev limit won't let it.
Full throttle in fifth gear makes the tach needle jump around from 7700 to 0 and back again as fast as your eyes can detect it! 80mph is about to be surpassed.
I also can't wait to take her past 8000 in all the gears drag racing, so that the lag between shifts keeps the rpm in the meet of HP production...

So Graydons CDI does have a rev limiter huh? That worries me so much not having one. I don't worry about a missed shift (because I'm that good ) No really, I worry what if you wrecked the bike & your throttle got pinned? I know it's a slim chance but still.
How well does the Graydon work? I was told that a certain CDI had problems before with a CDI that had a higher limit. It wouldn't work right.

Hightower, I think demon is running a 165 main and the needle 3rd down from the top of the needle. He is running the dynojet kit. At least that is what he told me. We are at about 6200 ft altitude. I think 165 would be a little lean for our altitude, but that is what he told me. I run the dynojet 185 right now and could probably go down to a 180, but I don't think I could go as low as he is on the main.

Andrew, I think graydon is the one with the higher limit. I believe it is about 9200 rpm. Sand45 is running one (I think) and his bike runs real well. If you wanted one with a higher limit, that is what I would go with.

I run a RWR pipe, K&N, and Dynojet kit - with the open nozzle on my RWR pipe, I ran the 185 main, third clip. I recently put on a disk system with an adapter RW makes for this pipe - supertrap disks - and 18 disks made me leaner. I had to go up to 195 main because my plug started turning white after adding the disks.
I've aparently added a bit more air and fuel with the disks...

Bat - how many disks does the Big Gun have?

The big gun does not use discs. It is just an open end.

Well because I have been asked so many times the qusetion of what my jetting is I had to go and find out. I want to take care of my fellow bombers right? I am running the dynojet 170 main and the needle is in the third position from the top. I also checked my plugs just now, yet again, and they are absolutly perfect. The electrodes arent disintergrating nor is there any white stuff or black stuff. Just a clean plug with the slightest tint of brown on it all. I think I could be a bit lean right now with the temps being in the 30-40 when I ride but I know it was perfect for the hotter 80-95 weather this summer. Like Bat said the majority of riding is goign to be from 6200 fett and up. I would say the average is at about 6800 ft at the dunes.

BAT, I got your message and that is just fine. I know where that is at. I wont stay the night though. I thought for a long time that the 170 would be to lean but I just kept trying them untill I got it to run the strongest. I was amazed at how well the machine ran after I got the right jets in place. I would try it if I was you, but arent you gettin a new carb anyway?

What did you guys have to do to keep the carb mount filter from rubbing stuff - somebody told me the outerwear would get holes rubbed in it from the frame and seat...is this true?
I'm still using a K&N in the air box, and didn't see a significant gain leaving the lid off and trying different jetting, but if I can get some gain with one on the carb - without rubbing issues - I will go that route.
