Had the best day of riding with the DS yet yesterday. First time since the purchase in January I was out with more than 3 or 4 guys. Had a bunch of 400ex's loaded with mods, a stock Raptor with K&N, piped and jetted Raptor with other mods, and a bunch of blaster and smaller bikes (12 in all). Ripped them all, hill climbs, 300' drags, 600' drags, makeshift MX course in a local sandpit. The DS CAN do it all!!!

That sounds great!! Hey I noticed you are running the different tires. How well do you like the Sure Trac's? I have been considering the 22" Bandits and the 22" spider Tracs for mine. Do they peform much better than the stock tires? I know you said you jost got it so you may not really know but that is OK.

Hey DemonDS,

I really like the Sur Traks. I have 22" bandits on the Warrior and they worked good on hard pack and in the trails but I didn't like the way they were in the real loose stuff and I found they pack up in the mud. I have a friend that has been running the Sur Traks forever, he used them on a quadracer, banshee and now his raptor, and has always stuck by them. They work well on hard pack, work really well in loose sand/gravel, self clean in mud well. Just a well rounded tire for the varying conditions I ride. I've tried the Realtors, but didn't like how they didn't have any side bite, they slip off of wet rocks to easily, but worked well in loose stuff. They are only rated as a two-ply, but we ride through everything and I have never seen one punctured. The Sur Traks hook up good, hold well when power sliding, work in sand, hard pack, snow and mud.

Sorry for the long winded reply, but I've had a lot of rides in the past and have tried lots of tires and I can honestly say these work the best for me.

Sounds good! I also was thinking about Sur Traks. How are they off the start? Spin or hook up?

Barkbiterds,

Do you have a slip on or any type of exhaust mods? Also how bad were you beating the piped and jetted Raptors?

The Sur Traks hook up right off the line, I'm 6'2", just over 250 and have a K&N, jet, stock airbox and stock gearing w/ the 22" rears. I was sitting right up almost on the tank, launching at about 1/2 throttle and the front end would come up through first, carry into the change into second, then settle down for the rest of the run.

Beating the Raptors by about two bike lengths on the 300' and by four or better on the 600'. I know the guys I was riding with and we are all about equal in skill and I outweighed both by at least 60lbs + the additional weight of the DS. It seemed like once I hit 3rd I just kept pulling away, and since I was hooking up right from the start I didn't have to make up any ground. One raptor was wearing 22" realtors and the other was wearing 20"holeshots. I've got a 15t that will probably be in today and I'm looking forward to seeing how much quicker I'll be off the line.

It might make you spin a little more I think.

I do a lot of woods riding and that's the biggest reason for the 15t, wanted the lower gearing blasting around the trees. Of course, I'll experiment more with the straight line hook-up of the Sur Traks.
