DS jetting/mods data

I was thinking, it would be nice to have a chart showing our DS mods and jetting information for the purpose of comparing and to help re-jet our machines and tuning them. We could then post this info on some already good websites. Thoughts?

Name, year/color, cdi, airbox/filter type, carburetor/s, exhaust, main jet type and size pilot jet size, needle jet type/position,air/fuel mixture screw setting, internal engine mods(cams/piston/bored cylinder,etc),where you ride(elevation),suspension, gearing,other?

For example here is my info:

Buttfungus, 01-Black, RW-cdi, k&n stock airbox/without lid, stock carb, modified end-cap(By Kyle),mikuni 180 main jet, stock pilot jet, stock needle jet up one notch, air/fuel screw 2.75 turns out,Dallas/Fort Worth area/1000 ft,stock suspension, stock gearing,.

What do you guys think?

exhaust full big gun
main jet dynojet 185
pilot stock pilot
needle dynojet 3rd groove from top
air screw 2.5-2.75 turns out
internals stock internals for now
elevation 5000-7000 ft
suspension stock
gearing stock

If anyone needs anymore info let me know. I think this could be cool and may help someone when doing mods. I am not sure, but may be on the rich side.

Well here is mine:

Main, 170 Dynojet
Needle, 3rd position Dynojet
Pilot, stock
Air fuel mix: set every ride, usualy between 1.5 and 3 turns
Exaust: Ron Woods Racing
Filter: K&N Carb Mount with Outerwares
CDI: Ron Woods Racing
Suspension: Stock with shockwares
Gearing: 15 tooth front with stock rear
Dune Tires: Sand Tires Unlimited Sand Skate II's and Razor front's
Regular Tires: Stock, soon to be Bandit's
Ride usualy between 6000-9000 ft Elevation


Thoughts: The DS is very finicky with it's jetting and I have found that a slightly lean condition seems to be a very effective mix. Good riding to all and to all a good sand dune.

Excellent idea Butt! I was just about to post a similar question! I just bought the K&N dynojet kit, but lost the directions after the first ride. What does it say about hesitation in the first 1/4 throttle. Everything else is great, just a little cough in first.

I forgot that I just installed the pami hd clutch springs.

Also, I am running stock ohtsu tires and for sand I run the stock fronts with skat trak 20x10x10 10 paddle haulers on the rear.

Good Idea.
2001 ds650 stock carb, 185 dynojet main jet, dynojet needle slot 2, k&n airfilter with outerwear in stock airbox without lid, up one tooth in front, stock CDI, modified end cap, 500 foot elevation
