See, we take crap from you 250r guys all the time. But say one little word about the revered Honda,,like OLD!! and you go all punk!
Talk about dish it out but can't take it.

Fact is every 250r winner out there is a modern modified version, sharing few if any parts or specifications with a vintage model.
... It's old. It has the handling charactaristics that are still a model to follow, but exceed, just like the aftermarket frame builders and the current production models are doing now. A stock 14 year old 250r is no match for a Raptor or DS, Cannondale, and I'd put my money on the new Suzuki too.
... Fact is steel gets old, (250r frames crack alot) and even a good design gets old too.
Put the 250r in the vintage class like a Jaguar XKE. Very cool, potent in its' day, but no match for today's thunder.
.....It sucks that the industry can't do better after 14 years, but 10 years of that was a wash with the CPSC restrictions of no new race quad development.
.....So anyway, I've had my fun, and I think it's time we moved on. The 250r has to take its' rightful place as the King of the Old quads. And bring on the new models that unquestionably leave it, and the current crop, clearly behind. We will not be stuck thinking the 250r is the greatest quad ever made, really,,,we won't.... I love my DS, but I loved my 250R and I wish I wouldn't have sold it. I got the DS because I wanted a large bike with plush suspension, but it has been really unreliable and a pain to work on, oh well, I'm stuck with it so I might as well make the best of it. Hopefully Bombardier will keep producing it so the aftermarket gives it more attention. Everyone needs to let up on the brand loyalty, it's getting as bad as the whole Ford vs. Chevy debate.

Hey we gotta have a little fun. I cracked myself up with the "monkey in the parade" line. Our Ohio Honda guy is punctuationally challenged and this is our turf. Imagine what the Yamaha guys would have done to him!
.....Hey Mintychip, what kind of "reliability problems" have you had?
I had a fan go out, that's it. I've even got my original chain roller, and only adjusted my chain one time. (I use chain wax almost every time I ride) I know I have over 2,000 miles on it. I finally got a tach to go with the PamiCDI. This motor sure likes 8,000rpm. I don't even want a Baja, other than the lights and the silly colors, I already have one. Remember, a DS won the Baja. This will be the first quad I've had that I will keep past the one year mark, And LOVING IT! I too would like to hear what Mintychip has had for problems with his DS. I have an estimated 1700 miles on my DS since last August and it still runs like new. Only problem I had was a bent lower a-arm which was not covered under waranty because it was considered "abuse". My chain roller is still in working condition, but may need to be replaced soon. Never had a problem with the fan yet.

Fourlix~
Was that your Raptorette in one of the latest magazines? Dirtwheels I think? The Razrs and Works suspension looked really familiar in the magazine.

I have now been persuaded to put the DS into early retirement and take an "r" out of the nursing home.

I was told there would be a preview in the "Inside Scoop" column, with a feature article in the May issue of ATV Action, which is the sister publication of Dirtwheels.
...They didn't come out here, I guess we are just too far out in the sticks, and it is pretty difficult to get here without a long drive from somewhere. They sent me film and instructions, (I have a pretty good 35mm Nikon) and sent Skyler a set of Thor boots for the photo shoot. He had full riding gear except for boots. We sent back 3 rolls of slide film, two action, one stills, but kept the boots. We figured as long as we did a good job with the stunts and photos we'd get to keep the boots. Skyler did a great job riding, I hope I did as well with the pics.
....I haven't seen anything yet, I don't have a subscription so I have to wait for it to hit the local newstands.
.... I wish I could see the look on the face of the Yamaha guys that replasticized the Badger when they see it.

Well Ohio250rlover I myself would love a houser racing chassis with my motor in it, or a CRF450 motor, and come on guys lets not get all worked up over nothing, its not like he's coming to Indiana to my track and try and race me, although your welcome to Ohio250, I completed my mile long mx track yesterday, the last jump is a 110ft triple, that video will be on my site soon, see the others on my site now if you want and when your ready to come over and ride we'll play race, maybe you'll push me to get that houser chassis. Oh and by the way all DS riders are welcome to come ride the track if you wish. I'll post an invite.

Dudes, this whole thread is crazy man.
Ohio250rlover just asked why it takes an hour to rejet a Raptor, and said nothing of a DS at all.

I guess I'll answer him, since nobody else did, and then maybe lakotasport3 can use the info too.

The Raptor has two carbs that cannot be jetted without complete removal because it's so crowded. You gotta remove two carbs, take off their bowls, change jets, and then put it all back together.

The starter for the DS is in front of the cylinder instead of behind it like others, so there is plenty of room under the carb to get the bowl off without carb removal. Allen screws in place of the stock phillips heads on the crab bowl make future jetting even easier. Just use stainless steel screws.
