I was looking around the site and someone had the same battery problem that I have; the battery goes completely dead, and the engine dies. I disconnected the battery after I started my 4-wheeler and it would immediately die. So I guess that that would mean that the four wheeler is not charging the battery.

I heard that the problem could be the little black box under the air filter box. I looked at it and there are five wires, three yellow, one red, and one black. The black wire is pulled out. Is the black wire supposed to be pulled out, or could that be the battery problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Schoolboyrowe

Yah, the black wire is the ground for the voltage regulator/rectifier and it definatly need to be connected to the plug. If your DS is under warranty, take it to your dealer for repair or else have somebody that is knowledgable with electrical repair it.

I have to wait till I go home to check but I was just under there last night and I never noticed any wires that weren't connected. If you found both ends of the black wire, one comming from the harness and one from the regulator then hook them up and see if it charges. Best way to check is if you have a volt meter, connect it to your battery (pos-pos, neg - neg) and with the engine running watch the meter while you touch the wires together. If the reading on the meter goes up then problem solved, if it goes down then pull the wires apart and take it to a dealer. More than likely, somebody accidently cut the wire and didnt notice.

Thanks JSsDS,
I appreciate the information. I'll have to take the box off tomorrow because the wire broke flush with the box, and I'll have to open the housing. It appears to be sealed. I'm pretty good with wires. I fixed my radiator fan that everyone else replaces, it was not easy, but possible. Wish me luck.
Thanks again,
