I paid 7400 OTD, for a 2001 DS650, in Feb. 2001. The prices are a lot different now though.

As far as which to get, I wouldn't trade my DS for anything. I'd still re-buy it knowing everything I know now.

I payed about $5700 for an '01 when the '02's were already out. I had to drive 2 1/2 hrs to Salina, KS to find an out of state dealer ( no sales tax ) who still had a '01 in stock, but the dealership's service is worth the extra drive.

I'm in Indiana, drove to Michigan (4hours) to get a 2001 last february for $6200 out the door. It was $5900 + freight, set-up, and all that crap for nothing. No sales tax either, since I was outta state...

My buddy is picking up a Baja for $7600 OTD (includes CA sales tax.)

Bomb. offered a rebate last Aug-Oct. on 01 DS 650's (not Baja version.) I know there were some people getting them for around $6k OTD.

I wouldn't hold my breath for the rebate again. Heck, I am not sure I understand why they did it in the first place, they are selling fine without it. Probably just wanted to help the dealers clear stock of the old DS's before the Baja's showed up. Dealer's around here are not even bringing in the std. DS (just the Baja.)

I am all for sharing honest pricing but, making people think they are paying too much for a quad when it is realy a realistic price just hurts us (the ones that already own the quads.) Put it this way, if I tell my buddy I got mine for $6k and then the dealer tells him he has to pay $7,500 my buddy decides to wait. Later I have to sell mine for some reason, now my buddy is only willing to offer me $4,500 for mine. That would really suck if I actually paid $7,500 for it. I am in sales (industrial, not quads) and this kind of thing really bugs the $*1T out of me. If you are going to share the information, make sure it is accurate.

Here is what I would guess about what you have seen above.

BlackHawk - Good price
3TV - Was that Out the door? Or + tax, etc. How much sales tax in Utah? Our dealer was offering them at $6999 + tax & freight so $6600 + tax / freight sounds right.
Bombthreat187 - I know nothing about left-over models, was this price out the door? Guardianangle - Wow, not calling you a liar but, something doesn't sound right. That is below cost. Sounds like your friend opened the dealership and turned it into the 24-hour ATV store.
Lightweight and Hightower prices sound right.
Adam - Sounds like a good price for a used '02 Baja. Especially if it has extras (aftermarket pipe, etc.)

I bought mine last August when Bombardier was offering the $1000 rebate. I got mine for $5400 plus tax, or about $5800 OTD.

I got a question for you guys that bought your machine out of state. Didn't you have to pay the sales tax when you registered the ATV in your own state? I bought mine in Minnesota, but had to pay the Wisconsin sales tax upon registration.
