Has anybody seen those little fan like things on TV that you put into your intake? I was wondering if anybody thought of making a new airbox boot with one built in? Do you think this would give you any power?

I think those things are kind of gimiky myself. I saw the comercial you are refering to and I thought about it for a while. The idea is to swirl the air thereby creating better fuel atomization thus creating a more complete burn in the combustion chamber thus providing more power. But the problem lies in fact that you're basicly stuffing a restricter plate in the works slowing down the air velocity. So what you gain in better atomization you lose in volume. If you could increase the size of the intake leading to the carb enough to compensate for the loss of air space, then I could see the product working like they say. Just my thoughts.

There was a kit called the stratocharger supercharger made by a few years ago for Honda 250r's. They ran a squirrel cage fan with an astroflight RC plane motor and were really supposed to move some air with power gains equal to stroking the motor. They promptly went out of buisiness leaving one to wonder if this worked then why doesn't anybody else sell a kit. It would far cheaper than $4000+ for turbo kits.
At sea level atmospheric pressure is something like 14.7psi which is pretty hard to improve on without using some power to do it. My guess is that it would boost your power enough to compensate for the extra drag on your alternator. Net gain 0 +or- . If someone proves me wrong I'll be first in line to buy one.
