I have a 2002 ds 650 baja. I am wandering if there is a performance benifit to the Ron Woods CDI box besides the elimination of the rev limiter. I don't have a problem with running out of rpm's, just want to know if there is any power gain and is it worth the money.

Yep! get an aftermarket cdi! They give you more range through the whole powerband and when you need that little extra bit of power it's there. The Pami and Ron Woods are very similar.Either one would be a good choice. I'm not familiar with the other's, maybe someone else could help.

Is there a noticable difference in power from the stock box to justify the $300.

I think there is a noticeable change if you change the exhaust/filter and rejet the carb. I am happy with my RW cdi even though it set me back $300 bucks. It was worth it to me.

I have a FMF Power Core 4 & a K&N air filter in the box. And it has been jetted. I just saw alot of people putting this box on their ds650's and was wandering if it is worth the $300 if all we are talking about is power and rpm's aren't a factor.

The RWR and Pami boxes advance ignition timing throughout the rev range, for max advantage throughout. I don't know about the Alba and Graydon, somebody else may know. Of these four boxes, only the Graydon has a rev limiter, set at 9300rpm I think.
There is a noticable difference in performance, mostly in the form of throttle response, but also some power gain as well from bottom to top, and it also raises the peak HP rpm considerably. Whether or not this performance gain is worth $300 to you is a matter of opinion. Its worth it to me, I recommend it. Alba unit is $400, Graydon is $370 I think. Go Pami or RWR, for $300. Get a kill switch after you lose the rev limiter, for crash and burn protection...
