Hey you are running the same jet and air box set up I am.. I have a 180 mikuni main with a K&N in the air box with out a lid. I was wondering have your tried a 185 main or not. Cause the first time i ordered Jets and I got a 170, 175 and 180. I ended up with having to use the 180 to keep it from leaning out. But I think it might need a 185.. When I first put the 180 in and tried to rev it it would have a low end bog. So I put the air box lid on and it reved just fine. And I went out and gassed on it wth the lid on and it didint stumble in the higher revs or nothing.LIke a rich setting would. So I took the lid off after the bike had warmed up more and it reved ok.I then got on it and gassed it and I noticed a major power gain with having the lid off.. Very Noticable. But I think with the lid off it may be a lil lean. I am just wondering if you experienced any of this stuff when your were jetting yours. And if you tried a 185 mikuni main. My pilot jet is stock and my needle is up all the way. And I got an HMF slip-on. THANKs

Yeah, that's a good question. I have been trying the carb-mount k&n with the mikuni 180 main, and it is definitely on the lean side. I think the 180 main with the stock k&n w/o lid is borderline or is running ok without the lid on my machine. I am going to order the 182.5, 185, and 187.5 mikuni mains and test them with both filter setups after I get back this weekend from Little Sahara,Ok. You might try the 182.5 and 185 if you can and let me know how yours runs.BTW, I'm running on the last notch on the needle jet as well.
Later..
