Crankcase Breather Filter - how clean is yours?
#1
For those of you with a crankcase breather filter - do you have the issue of oil vapor condensing on the pleats and getting all kinds of sand stuck to it? I started wrapping mine with a piece of rag and a rubber band, any better ideas out there?
Right now mine sits under the tank cover, and gets a little oil film there too, where do you guys have yours?
There is a mount for another hose barb opposite the carb breather that tees into the intake boot from airbox to carb - anybody have their crankcase breather connected here? I've thought about it - burning the oil vapor intead of soaking it up - but I'm worried about whether or not that would be too much vacuum and pull out too much oil vapor.

I did the same as hinglbyds with my Baja. The 760 is a different story I used a
oil collector with a Spyke Krank vent
So far the system works,as long as I drain the collector once and awhile

The factory has the crankcase vent tube jammed into the left snorkel, causing an air flow obstruction. I run with no lid, snorkels removed, and a pleated filter on the crankcase vent.
Would it be bad to install a hose barb on the intake boot and put the vent hose here, instead of having a filter? Its the way it was from the factory - basically - and its how a lot of other bikes are too. I'm just worried about too much vacuum sucking too much from the crankcase. What do you all think? Its either this or just putting the filter in the air box. I like Jeff's collector, but a bit pricy right now...
Vegas - give me details of your project - sources, etc. Thanks!

Hightower here is the part that Majorecho is using. He's still looking for something better but I figured his bike was a lot cleaner than mine after riding so what's $10.
It's a power brake filter for GM/Chrysler
I'm sure they have an OEM one but the one I got is a Help product, part #80195.
