Airbox lid, on or off?
#1
I see alot of people take off their airbox lid. The question I have is how much power do you gain from this and what kind of jetting do you need for sea level with a K&N and a aftermarket slip-on exhaust. Do you lose any reliability?

Reliability you will not loose unless you suck water in your engine. You will loose some bottom but you will gain on the top if done correctly.

The reason i'm asking is I went to pismo and noticed it was kind of sluggish so I pulled the airbox lid off and it was alot more powerful, but the problem was it was backfirering alot so I put it right back on. I just want to know if it is worth the power to take it off?

It was back-fireing because it was to LEAN, take the lid off and rejet your carb to a 185 mukuni or a 195 dynojet(main jets). Then turn your Idle/mixture screw in all the way, then out 3 turns.
