Does anyone make a Radiator Scoop for the DS650 that is not made from carbon fiber? I would like to add the scoops to my quad but I can not justify $150+ for them. Why are they made out of carbon fiber in the first place? Sure its looks cool. I can't imagine it saving that much weight then if they were made from a plastic material like the rest of the body on the DS.

I made my own. I used sheet metal, and spray painted it black.
If you want me to give you plans how to make it i might be able to make some.

Anyone know how much the shrouds are from CT? The aluminum should be cheaper then carbon fiber. But why aren't there any plastic ones? Almost all motocross bikes have plastic ones stock.

I have the CT Shrouds, they are pretty nice. For peace of mind, I added some rubber so that there is no direct shroud-to-radiator contact. This reduces some of the additional cooling, but if the vibration wears a hole in the radiator, I think loosing the coolant would be wose. If you want extra cooling, get one of the high performance coolants, people in the forums have tried Water Wetter (non-anti-freeze) and Engine Ice (it does prevent freezing) with excellent results, myself included.
