Ok, I am looking into buying some gauges for the ol' DS. Anyways what is the difference between a mechanical and Electrical Gauge. My understanding is a mechanical requires the liquid or such to come right to the gauge where it's temperature is measured, versus a electrical where the sensor goe's to the liquid and sends a electrical signal back to the gauge. I was wondering if the electrical gauge would still work in the DS's electrical system.

Your understanding is right, and they will work if they're 12V, I've seen a few guys on the forum that have electrical gauges. The one I like the best is a gauge that has two needles and two scales inside the same bezel, and one is for water temp while the other is for oil pressure. Sorry, no vendor info, but if you do a search for gauges in previous threads I think you'll find several links.

Thanks, I am going to be going with a Three hole Console with Oil Temp, Water Temp and Tranny Temp. The tranny one will measure the temperature in the motors drain bolt as I would liek to see the decrease in temperature from the motor through the oil cooler. I also would like this setup because I am going to be installing a custom setup with a fan on the oil cooler and I am intersting in be able to see the drecrease in temperature, that way I can share honest info with you guys. Also where do you put the sensor for a water temp. Gauge? Can you get an adaptor to splice it into a line or do put it somewhere else? Also where do the guys mount the car type gauges? and do you run the power directly from the battery or just splice in somewhere? Thanks, J.D.

I found this place

http://shannon.v8eaters.com/tos.html

They make a gauge that you can switch between up to 6 different sending units to monitor.
