Every aftermarket bar there is will rub the tank cover at full turn. It doesn't hurt steering at all, just rubs an abrasion on each side about an inch long, creating a cosmetic defect in the tank cover that really isn't that noticable unless your looking for it. If you're okay with that, like I am, then no need to worry about it. Otherwise, the only way to cure the rubbing is to raise the bars, about 1/2" to clear it totally. Alba sells a bar raise kit for like $50 - ouch! or you can make your own spacers, but the factory clamp cover won't hide them, and look as bad as the rub marks! Or, go to Trailtech's website and get their new bar kit for the DS - a raised clamp kit with their new X-Bars - the total package is $99 and looks sweet.
Trailtech
Or, you can get an aftermarket steering stem that is longer, with anti-vibe mounts, the options just keep getting bigger and better, and more costly too I'm afraid.
Or, replace with factory bars.

I bought a pair of msr high rise, and they bent like they were plastic. I just got some moose high bars, i will have to wait and see how well they work.
(Moose, and msrs $16.99) I would rather buy the cheap bars that bend, that way the steering stem does not get bent...
