methanol??

has anyone tried changing the ds over to ranning methanol or alchol as the fuel, i know that it rans a lot (i mean a lot) cooler than, 93 octane or racing gas, and cooler the engine the more HP you have. we ran a modifal race car (imca) with methanol and the temp never gets over 180 maybe 185, and thats running hard for a full main event

AZ would you like to elaborate on the convertion, or did you take it somewhere, i have the mikuni 45 carb i know that you have to change out the plugs and jettings, but is that all that is needed, and where is a good start point to start tuning the carb after the convertion (jets sizes, needle, whatever else) have you all had any problems with moisture in the fuel filter
bom you can get achol at most race tracks and drag strips, you might try shops that associate with racing, like HP Performance shops, i would say to buy it in 55 gallons drums if you can, but it last for about 6 months or so befor its trash(due to moisture) but you can buy a funnel that has a water filter in it that will let you use the drum or achol for a longer time

Frist i have dual 39'S so my conversion is different than the 45 and i dont run a filter the metanol has trouble getting thru fast enough!and ive had no problem with moisture at all.and in self deffence before something happens you must remeber metanol is very volitle and you can not see it burning so be very carefull with metanol.and then have a little fun.

FOR STARTERS TO SEE IF YOU LIKE THE ALKY GET A 45MM CARB TAKE THE MAIN JET AND THE PILOT JET OUT.IT WILL RUN THAT AWAY I PROMISE MINE IS RUNNING LIKE THAT RIGHT NOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR PLUGS OR ANYTHING
TAKE THE MAIN AND THE PILOT JET OUT DRAIN YOUR GAS TANK AND FILL WITH ALKY MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ADDED TOP LUBE TO YOU ALKY NEVER RUN WITHOUT TOP LUBE. IT WILL RUN ROUGH AT IDLE BUT IT WILL BE FINE I'M SURE YOU WILL LOVE THE ALKY.

fastyellowDS i see your from OK. were do you ride? what carb do you have? i can help you out with the alcohol. i think other than scooby i was frist one to try it. i have alot of hours of tuning behind me. PM me if you want to try it.
