New competition at FSW's? A 700 vtwin Kawi!!!!

Well if you havent seen the main page here at ATV Connection, go look!! A new Kawi 700 V twin Sport quad. Auotmatic, with shaft drive none the less. Kinda ugly I think, looks like a DS puched it in the face flatening it. But I bet it is going to be fast really fast for the draggs. But I seriously doubt it will be much to fear at Four Stroke Wars.

My first impression was, boy did they miss the mark. But now, to be honest, I think they might have helped to solidify a totally different type of market. There's the lightweight, manual clutch, moto friendly class(Suzuki and Kawasaki old 250's, new 400's, Honda old 250's and new 400, Cannondale 440, etc), then there's the open class, lightweight manual clutch, hi-po class(Yamaha 350 and 660, Bombardier 650, Polaris 500, etc), and now there's another contender in the sportier than it may seem, lighter than it may look, laid back performance cruiser(Polaris Sports, Scramblers, etc). This class is great for a number of people, whether they just don't like shifting, but don't like racks, or perhaps older performance minded enthusiasts that like to kick it in the *** from time to time, but want a more comfortable, perhaps more forgiving couch. This seems to be a nice user friendly, low maintenance sport ride. I think it will be neat to see where everything goes from here! No doubt we will see some of these peak near 900cc by the time the aftermarkets are done!

I like variety... I like options....I like when a company tries to push a little harder.
There are two companies (Kawi, Bomb) that I think are doing both. Sure they might miss the mark sometimes but generally they help propel the industry
Congrats to Kawi
As soon as a company gets "comfortable" they start re-releasing the same models (ie: Honda Ranchers)

What a Tank!! I mean that is insane to put a v-twin in a quad! Talk about jumping a giant brick thru the air! LOL. Would you buy one?! Marky start a new poll! Yeah I agree it is great for some of the older guys out there and I guess if I had the money I would probably buy one to zip around camp with or something but drag racing or serious duning?, forget about it! That dream Honda 750 would be more suitable. Kawasaki's new monster will however get the other boys to step up to the plate finally though I think. The perfect performance quad whould be a 650 or 750 Bomb with a turbo, and shave 80 pounds of the bike from which I understand the 2004 is going to have done to it. Rotax hads proven to be the most dependable engine with a Turbo setup. Those twin motors are just to heavy and you need a gearbox not a cvt transmission to compete with the likes of the Bombs or the Craptors. Although my friends stock Scrambler 500 does pretty good though, I will have to give it kudos. Anyway all I say is LET'S GET IT ON!!!!.

I totally agree at 505 lbs dry it is only going to be good for old guys that want to cruse around. Definitely to heavy to be competitive in drag racing or good for serious riding.
Oh, wait. I am sorry. I messed up. 505 lbs is the dry weight of a Baja 650. The new Kawasaki weighs 506 lbs. What a tank!

I don't get it, why would a baja weigh 50 pounds more than my yellow DS?? Is that a misprint on their website, because there are many, and many more in their shop manuals. those damn canadians can't convert from the metric system! All the mags said the Baja was 475, which is it?
Anyway, Angry, you set yourself up for that one man. But at least the DS has 12" of suspension travel to make up for it.
And Moose, lets not forget whose yellow bus is just as fast as your bike when the wheelie bar is off, with a slipping clutch to boot!
Its cool that the auto guys have a new bigbore to choose now, I'm happy for them. The front end does look just like the Arctic Cat 90.
Hey, you guys think Suzuki will market this bike with yellow plastic?

And yes the Baja and ds are 475 lbs! Well if you think the Baja is so heavy and it can't catch any air then check out DSaholics pics at jeffinrivercity's website and tell me Bombs can't fly! Try that with a Craptor and all you'll here is AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! MY Nuts!!!!!!!!!! were did they go!!!! When you pull them out of your throat that is! Oh and don't go crying to Yamaha when your frame goes SNAPPPPPPP!!!!! and they won't replace it for you. Talk to my buddy about that one.
