$80 CDI box
Mystereid..Don't really want to drag you back to the top of the pile BUT... in your post you stated that you only had to move 1 pin out of 5. That the rest of the wires were the same color. Can you explain that so that I can understand what you meant? I have an opportunity to pick on of these up, (not where I can see it to compare) and would like to know what I am getting into as far as the change over. Thx..Dean

naed, I don't mind answering your question at all. The CDI boxes are both made by nippondenso and are externally identical. The connectors themselves are also identical and have six male-female pin positions but carry only five pins, with one left empty sealed off with a little rubber plug.
If you look at both CDI connectors side by side, four of those colored wires are the same color and in the same positions.
Red, white, orange, black are the same. Ds had a purple (or possibly blue, I'm a little color blind), while the BMW had a green wire.
Looking at the BMW CDI, only one wire was different in color (green), and it was in the spot that was left empty in the Bombardier CDI.
BMW-I removed the rubber blankoff plug, pulled out the only mismatching colored wire by poking at the pin with a dental pick, and moved it over one position. Now the connector looked identical to the DS CDI connector, the only difference being a green instead of purple wire. I replaced the rubber plug into the newly emptied hole.
I hope this drug out explanation doesn't scare you off, If the price is right, buy that CDI. If you have a baja, I believe the pattern will be different but I'm sure it will still work.
Good luck, Kevin Reid
