Default Hi-Comp Piston

This winter I was thinking of maybe dropping in a high-comp piston and I was wondering if there are any special tools required to this on the DS and also what piston to do you gusy prefer and what kind of results can I expect and will 93 octane still be alright? I would like to have the 12.5:1 piston from Pami but I dont want to get into this big mess with peopel missing motors and everything else from there and Knutz and I cant find any place in the states with a 12.5 so it looks like I will have to go with the 11.something:1 from CT racing.

I have the mods listed now and was planning on possibly a modified intake and a set of cams.

TVI has the 12:5:1 piston. I have it in mine. If you are going to put cams in you will need special tools, that being a Bombardier valve spring compressor. You will notice a huge difference with the cams and Piston. You will have to run a 50/50 mixture with the 12:5:1, 91 with some 110 or something. Better yet a few Texacos sell 101 octane Trick Racing fuel and it is even unleaded. So does 76 stations, their's is a 100 octane. The setup I am running works so well that I stayed up right along side dead even with DSDUde this weekend and he was running a 23 h.p. shot of N.O.S. He doesn't have a bigger cam or pistons and he is still running stock gearing and sand skate 2's. I recomend that you get a bigger carbureator also, it compliments the engine mods.

Angry, did you port your head or just go with piston and cams? If you were hanging with him on NOS, I hate to say it but his NOS system wasnt working right. That would mean you gained 20HP or so from your mods, thats incredible if you did. Not saying you didnt, dont get me wrong, that would be amazing is all.

If he creams me on the holeshots he can beat me but, I stay right in pace with him. He doesn't have the right gearing either, he still is running stock gears and 20" v-paddles. No I never did any head work. I have my NOS system still in the box, and I am thinking about sending it back. I had some slight money issues come up on me all of the sudden and I could use the money I blew on the NOS. Also I am concearned about killing my motrs longevity, running it on NOS. NOS reeks Havoc on your Rod bearings, and I also would probably have to get an extended swing arm. I can't keep the front end down now as it is! I chewed up some Raptors and a few piped Banshee's though, just for you Demon! It is such an awesome feeling to smoke a piped Banshee!! you know what I Mean?! And the best part about it was they Got the holeshot on me by about 2 to 3 lengths on me, and I caught them and passed them about 3/4 the way up the hill! And I am about 100 lbs heavier than the guy's I was riding against! OH, also smoked a Cannondale Moto too! Don't beleive me ask Bombastic he saw the whole thing.

Marky is right. Only open up the engine once if you can afford it. The gaskets get expensive.
