Default Big Rock - Maysville, KY

We just got back from riding Big Rock - this place is great!
DSBomb met us (he's a local) and showed us the place - 2000 acres is a lot to cover in a day. This dude rides man, and he's hard to keep up with! I'm talking treachorous rocky climbs that he blazes right up as if there were no obstacles in his way at all!

We thought we were in for a lot of rolling pasture hills and grass riding, but turns out this place has a lot of serious woods trails and hill climbs. Its a lot like Haspin Acres, IN, but bigger. Lots of trails loaded with rocks, I see where this place gets its name. I got two flat tires out of this trip, the worst being a pinched side wall from bottoming my front left on a sharp rock. The hill climbs are super steep, you can't stop on most of them, so its ***** to the wall all or nothing to get to the top, and if you don't your rolling end over end backwards all the way down. This makes tire/rock collisions hard to avoid. 6-ply is the way to go, radials aren't tough enough for this terrain, unless you want to poke around and miss the really fun stuff. Frame armor is highly recommended too.
It was way muddy, and its the kind of mud thats hard packed, and greasy slick on top, like snot on glass.
Beautiful views to stop and check out too, really nice place.
Only one casualty - a buddy of DSBomb broke his collar bone.

Rocky, Wayne - sorry you guys couldn't make it, we'll have to hit it again when you can!

Man, we were riding and having fun, and by the time I thought about pics I was down with flat tires! Even brought the video cam, but never got any footage! Will next time though!

Hightower, Sounds like you guys had a good time. I wish i could've made it. With wrestling practice, work meeting, and parent teacher conferences all falling on the same day, I had to cut something. The season should be over mid February. I'll be itching for a good ride then. I finally got the DS running good since I put the HMF slip on. Plugs are tan with great low end power. That HMF is even louder than my modified stock!!!

Sorry I didn't get a hold of you a while back when I said I would, got busy too and couldn't ride like I had hoped.
I'll keep you posted on our winter rides, so if you get a hole in your schedule maybe you can join.
