You could find the right piston to make it work. Once upon A time Mat at samcoe told me that they can order that piston and couple it with a 103 bore.

well thank goodness matt is gone from samco, ya, you certainly could order the correct piston but samco hasn't - don't know why?? I think the 690 would be a hot ticket.

Major:

I think you will be fine with the stock Conn. Rod and a 680 (102mm cylinder / piston) and race head (you run with a ported head right?)

If I remember correctly, this is the same set-up they use for the Paris to Dakar Rally.

I dont think that piston is that hard to get. You can order the proper gasket from cometic. It is looking better. I talked to a guy from Millenium West and they bore and recoat cylinders for about $200 and they pay for shipping. At K.P.C. when you send the piston they will coat the cylinder to piston spec.

Have you called them and asked why you haven't recieved your unit yet? Tell them you've spoken to other people who have made orders after yours and recieved it already and that you plan to cancel the order if they can't get you a quality built (no rush job junk) sent to you soon. Be extremely nice when you call and you'll have better luck as well. They will feel much better about helping you if your not screaming. Another thing is to call every day, not a dozen times, just once per day, that lets them know you aren't going to forget about it and they will speed up the process of getting it to you as they wont want to hear from you daily.

Hey Major you think that a full 5hp is possible. I know you gain 40cc's and that times 8000rpms and gonna get at least that right? Possible more with an opened up head?
