My vote is for ST Anthony, I whent to Sand Mountain last year (14 hours ea way) and I loved it. I liked the change so much that the wife and I decided to go some where new every year. I was told by a few guys at Sand MT that ST Anthony had some taller dunes than Sand MT. I gota see that!

c'mon guys let's go somewhere different- We drove 11 hrs each way,had a great time, but there's more to see in this country if your willing to travel a bit. St A's is highly recommended by every one that has been there. You don't know what your missing till you try!

I had a thought, noticing this thread was one of the hottest topics a short time ago, now it is dead. To help this along does anyone have info about both of these riding areas? Information such as maps, pictures, facilities, and access roads; anything and everything that a person would want to have in hand before going somewhere new. It's hard to vote on something without all of the information.

Right now we have a total of 21 votes, and nothing is landslide though Sand Mountain does have the edge. (Three votes isn't much.) How about two separate events? Don't go shooting down the two events idea because you think it will detract from the other, if they are at separate times of the year then it shouldn't be a big deal for most people. (Also I heard a lot of people who liked the St. Anthony’s idea talking about a different time of year as well which lends itself to the idea of a second event.) Additionally if anyone tries to tell say they only ride their DS650 once a year we all know what you're full of. I think the DS650 community is large enough to allow for two ‘road trip’ type of events in one year (in fact, if you include 4SW, that would be at least three for some people.) If we were trying to allow the most amount of time between ‘major events’ Then a Mid-Western St. Anthony’s or LS, Utah or whatever trip would be perfectly in between 4SW and DSDays if it were had in May or June. (May and June were listed as being prime weather months for St. Anthony’s) That allows three months after 4SW and three months before DSDays. Not everyone has to go to either event, the idea is to get out and ride as often as possible, not just see the biggest crowd. (If it was all about the crowds, then we’d all just have DSDays at Glamis over Thanksgiving, wouldn’t we!?) Also with a little advertising (website etc) and a ‘club outing’ setup, these events would easily bring in non-forum members as well as the members from other boards you shouldn’t forget.
