I'm really mechanically inclined so I know what basics to look at , oil, coolant, bearings ect.. But should I look at anything in particular with the DS? It's a nice quad with a big gun exhaust, k&n filter but stock innards. Any help from you all would be appreciated.

What to look for? Excuses from Raptor riders when you challenge them to a race!
The DS is a very well built machine. It has tremendous power and rides like a dream. In my opinion, it is the best made sport quad currently available (very, very dependable). Your friend won't be disappointed.

To answer your question, all of the 'glitches' of the first two model years of the DSs were fixed for 2002, so you'll really only be looking for 'the basics.' You have stated that you are rather mechanically inclined, so if there is something wrong you'll know it.

the only thing that is a problem is the fan on the radiator goes out. and it only causes the ds to be able to heat up when it isn't moving. other than that the stock batteries, have had a few times gone bad. so do a search on here for fan fix, and decide if you need the fan or not.

Thanks for the replys guys he picked it up last night out the door for $5200. Nice quad It was well taken care of! NO scratches anywhere. The only problem was I picked it up for him because he thought it was too wide for his stepbed chevy. When we got it home around ten last night he flooded it LOL. Today when he gets home from work we are going to get it running. Again thanks guys.
