Default Quest 650 or Outlander for the money?

Anyone been on any of these? Also wondering how they compare to the Vinson 500.

Thanks

Default Quest 650 or Outlander for the money?

I can't speak about Vinson I have seen them but never ridden one, they look pretty impressive.
I have a Quest 650 see enclosed link:
Quest 650 Impression

The dealer I bought the Quest from has a Outlander. It looks like it has addressed some of the shortcomings I noticed in the Quest.
1.) Switchable 2WD and 4WD
2.) Better running boards and fendors.
3.) Instrumentation

The Quest is a good machine but if they had the Outlander I would have probably purchased that instead. After owning the Quest and knowing a little more now than when I purchased it, I like the idea of being able to switch from 2WD to 4WD. Visco Lok is awesome I can only imagine how much better it would be being switchable like on the Outlander. I purchased the machine for mostly work but I can't believe how much trail riding I have been doing. The motor is smaller on the Outlander but it is about 160 lbs lighter than the Quest, and the way I ride having the smaller motor is not a big deal. Plus I think its around 1500 dollars cheaper than the Quest 650 XT I purchased, although if you purchase a Quest I think the XT option is the way to go. Good luck.

Sluggo,

Thought you might find this interesting, but a couple of guys (including a Bombardier Tech and dealer) from Frontier took the Outlander out for a real hard ride a couple weeks ago. One of their biggest complaints about the 'Lander? The running boards! Like yourself, I thought the Outlanders running board design was an improvement over the Quest/Traxter design. From what I heard, the Outlanders boards got hung up on stuff (stumps, rocks, etc) like crazy. They were working on some modificaitons to improve them...

Darkaid,

Comparing the Outlander and the Quest is an apples to oranges comparision - they are very different machines. Which one is best for you depends on what your riding style and requirements are. The Quest is more similar to the Vinson than the Outlander is.

Cheers,

Canadian Viking,
Your right when you say " Which one is best for you depends on what your riding style and requirements are." About the Outlanders running boards, thats interesting I haven't heard that. The guys at my dealer are raving about the Outlander. At first everyone thought they would'nt like the center spar frame, but they were saying it does what it was designed for gliding over rocks and stumps. Nobody mentioned anything about the boards getting hung up. Iv'e been looking for a bike for my father he is a little intimidated by the power of the Quest. I think Bombardier makes a 330 Outlander that would be perfect for him, plus I will get to ride it. I might see if I can take it for a ride when I pick up the Quest later this week, the front diff seal was leaking and had to be replaced. I hope parts are not going to be an issue with Bombardier they have been waiting over a week for the seal. I've noticed with the Bombardiers there are not to many dealers around here that sell then. The dealer I go to seems to be heavy into Kawasaki and Yamaha, but they have more Bombardier machines now then when I bought the Quest , they even had a Traxter Max.

Sluggo,

Don't get me wrong - the guys who took out the Outlander RAVED about it! they said it was an awesome machine - but one of their only concerns was the running board design. Go figure.
