Default How hard; Piston

How hard is it to install a new piston, cams and remove the head for some head work? I could get all this done a lot sooner if I didn't have to pay labor. I got most of the parts already, it's just a matter of getting the work done.

Is this something that I could do in my garage or what? Or is there anyone in AZ that would be willing to help out?

WTF!!!! you call me out then you go and add 10hp!!! sorry SOB!!LOL.

I think you could do it ,especailly with the help of these guys on this forum. but start right away, to leave plenty of time for unforseen misshaps.

Good luck!

No way am I touching my bike before FSW. With the way my projects go I will have to have BlackDS tow me up the hill. All the work is going to get done after FSW. Besides I have a much better shot in the bolt on class.

Hopefully I can talk AZSand into helping me

The only thing I'm doing to my bike before next weekend is getting my wheels powder coated...........Hot Pink

i would say that you can do it yourself, im doing mine now, i would say to get a set of cam carrier bolts when you order your stuff, i broke one off inside the head, got lucky thou i was able to get it out, you can tell that they all had been stretched and one broke well retorguing them down, im hoping to get it back together this weekend to go and play around some, it hasnt seemed hard, i just look at the shop manual and work slowly to make sure i dont drop anything or brake any thing

it is easy enough, it is just a matter, getting to a few of the hard to reach items, actually the only one that was slightly hard was the one bolt on the top of the intake manifold.

What do you think AZSand, you want to give it a shot after FSW?
