Need info on St. Anthony's
#1
I need some info/links for St. Anthony dunes. I have read ride reviews, and got campground maps, but no DNR/BLM info conscerning rules, etc. Is there a site the state of Idaho has that gives this info? I've heard of Eagin Lake BLM being a source for camping, but can't find any info on it.
We were gonna camp at Sand Hills resort, until we found out its 40 miles from where we wanna ride most. Not a big deal, but if there is a place closer we'll take it! We gotta know the rules and stuff too - like flags, spark arrestors, decibals, etc. - and need a link man.

June 18 & 19 looks like - we're going to Little Sahara Utah June first, and then heading up to St. Anthony's last, so it kinda depends on when we get done in Utah, but we'll be at St. Anthony's by the 18th.
Thanks for the link!
Full details are found at the link below, come if you can!

Yeah, I remember, you posted on my last thread about this trip. We'll be sure and look you up when we get there.
Have you been there before? I'm wondering how the camping is at Eagin Lake. I heard its a 40 minute ride from Sand Hills to the dunes.

Sand hills is not that far from the big dunes and it is a pretty fun ride to get there. The trail is well marked and it takes about 20 mins to get to thunder mountain and the lake where all the big dunes start. There are some good dunes around the camp also but ther are just not as big as the dunes out by the lake. The camp owners are kinda grumpy and you HAVE to follow there rules of they will kick you out!!! The rules also make it a little less hecktic around camp and really arent that bad so it is worth it to have trees and grass. If things work out around that time and we decide to head up that way I would be more than happy to show you guys around those dunes can be kinda intimidating once you get out in the back. There is a well marked trail that all the rails take to get back to the big dunes and it is pretty smooth the whole way and you can really fly on some parts. Choke cherry and devils dune are awsome and HUGE devils is just a few dunes away from choke cherry so don't stop once you hit choke cherry. Well My fingers are tires and if you have any more questions just let me know. Just for info I can make it out to devils dune and back to camp with a lot of playing along the way on one tank of gas.

Hey thanks man, that's great - might stay at Sand Hills afterall.
One more question - how is the trek from the camp to the dunes on paddles? Is it all sand, or is it desert dirt/gravelly, hard on the tires?

The trail is through the dunes the whole way and all sand, no worries on the tires they will be just fine.
You will need to be carefull though in the dunes as the dunes are on top of lava rock and in some places there are patches of the rocks that stick up and will tear up tires. They are mostly in the little dunes around camp and in between dunes. It isn't that big of a deal but I just thought that I would give you a heads up.

we will be there that weekend as well, planning on being there friday-sunday.we will park/camp at eagin lake.we might get a hotel in town but either way well be at eagin.they are putting in services at the lake campground but i dont know if theyll be done by then.theres no noise laws ect.you do need a flag.its about 7-8 mile ride to choke and devils dune from eagin lake.there are also some new camp grounds near eagin lake that would be alot closer to the bigger hills
