Default Decompression pin

I pretty much did the same thing Sandman....I also put the pin in the freezer for a while so that I didn't have to tap it to much to re-install it. In fact it was working prfectly before I installed the cam. I gave it plenty of time to warm back up to make sure it still moved freely under the sping tension. Only time will tell I guess. Now that I here of biggers probs i'll be worried for sure.

D ya`ll think reinstalling it is a must with a compression ratio of 14:1? I see that some of you are`nt having any starting problems at around 12:1.....but 14:1?

My guess would be that you won't see or notice any diff in the starting at all. What I think will happen is, in time your starter windings will give out. It will take more to turn the starter which in turn will increase the amp draw on the starter. Maybe over amping it and burning out the windings. But all that will take time to occure. How much time is any ones guess, or even if it would actually over amp all.

FastYellow650,
Sorry for the delayed response, but I was riding! I am running 11.5:1 piston with a milled head, over 200 psi cranking compression. The starter handles it easily as long as your battery charge is maintained. Low amperage from the battery will smoke a starter. It starts on the first push of the button every time, just don't open the throttle. If you open the throttle, it will produce full cranking compression and cause the starter to drag (slow down). Quite frankly it starts better than it ever has. I have been running without the compression release for over two years on the original battery and starter. The increased compression has been part of the package for about 50 hours of ride time. This motor hits 10,000 RPM regularly and I see no need, in my case, to have an unbalanced hunk of metal spining on my exhaust cam slowing down my acceleration.
