Default needle flew out of carb, HELP

I was trying to jet my bike and when i tried getting the needle out everything flew out. I know that in the jet kit it comes with an extra spring washer and clip. I manage to find the needle which had the clip and what i think is a plastic spacer which was right under the clip, I removed the clip and the plastic piece and tried to put the plastic piece on the new needle but it slips right through the needle. Do I need this plastic piece on the new needle and am I missing a spacer or anything. Again all I have are the extra pieces that came with the jet kit ( washer, spring, clip) can I countinue putting the needle on with what I have? And what order does everything go on. thanks

Blanstnbaja:

Don't take it to the shop and don't let yourself get frustrated. This kind of thing happens to all of us. A good parts guy at your dealer should be able to order you what you need. If not, get in touch with Mikuni.

Building confidence on this job will help you work on your quad on future jobs.

Sincerly,

Does it slide off the needle because the inside diameter of the washer like piece seems too large?

If so and I remember right, the plastic peice stays on since the needle is held in place with the spring. It won't go through the slide of the carb. The clip holds it in place from the top.

Let me know how it goes, if no one else can help you, I can take mine apart and take a digital picture of it.

hey duneme that would be great, i just ordered the pieces from my dealer it'll take about a week for them to come in. I guess i'm going to have to try to put it together myself since they want 90.00-120.00 to jet it for me. but yeah that plastic piece slides right through my needle and it sits firmly on the stock needle. the only things on my stock needle that didn't fly off were that plastic piece and a clip right above it, so i don't know if anything was below that plastic piece. another thing that worries me is that if one of the pieces i need fell into the carb.

good news i think i found the pieces i lost. I found evrything but the clip and the spring but fortunatly they come with the jet kit. now all i need to know is what order does it all go on in. I have the diagram of the carb and the needle set up, but i don't know which washer goes where. on is thicker than the other, anyone know where the thicker one goes, is it the one goes between the spring and the clip or is it the one that goes at the bottom right after the plastic spacer?

Make sure the rest of those pieces aren't going to make their way into your cylinder. Glad you found most of the pieces.
