Default CT Pipe & Jetting

I just received my CT full exhaust minus the jets and instructions. CT says they will send them Monday. I have a Dyno Jet Kit already. CT says to use the needle but use their jets. They wanted the clip at the 4th position. Any thoughts? What are anybody's suggestions about following a Stage 1 or 3. I have an '03 Baja, Uni Foam filter in the stock airbox. It is wet where I live so I don't really want to get rid of the air box. What are anybody's opinions of the CT exhaust. The salesman pointed out the Dyno curve on his web site and said that the system was only going to be 95 db. That sold me. Also, does anyone make a mount for the heat shield. I was disappointed that the CT didn't have the mount. I did try a MBRP slip-on, but all three of them were dented before they got to me. So, I said forget it. Opinions positive or negative are appreciated.

Default CT Pipe & Jetting Questions

I love my Ct exhaust. Had a slip on before and it made good power. But the full exhaust seems to put out more torque and get me out the hole better. Im running the stock airbox and filter with my exhaust. I have the needle clip in the 3rd position and Im running the 152.5 jet. Every bike will be jetted different because of altitude and fuel. Just play with the jetting and keep checking the plugs. They are the best insite into how your bike reacts. The only problem I had with Ct was that when they shipped the exhaust to me thats all they sent. No jetting, needles, or the spark arrestor. They said all were on back order and they would be shipped as soon as possible. They all were recieved within in a week. I dont run the spark arrestor anyway cause I like the extra horsepower I build with it off. Dont have dyno numbers yet but as soon as I make it to a dyno I will post.

How loud is it compared to stock? How long have you had it and what condition is it in? Would you trade it for anything else?

compared to stock its relatively loud. If i had to guess I would say that stock is around 88-89 db. The ct with the open end cap is around 97-98 dbs, maybe even closer to 100-101 dbs and the spark arresotor is around 93-94 dbs. I have had it for around a year now. The finish is holding up well and not having any leaks as of yet. the stock springs that hold the pipe to the muffler are rusting but thats a cheap easy fix. If i could trade it probably not. But if i had to I would go with the trinity racing full exhaust.

I also have a full CT exhaust on my DS. I love the power that it produces. Either my exhaust has a problem or the 95db is wrong. My DS is, by far, the loudest ATV I have ever ridden. Whenever I go to the dunes, I feel like I am the loudest on the sand. I run about 12 disks at all times. Even though it's loud, it does not bother my ears while on long rides. Weird. I owned a Honda 300EX with an aftermarket exhaust, and it would really annoy me after a few minutes of riding. Needless to say, everyone riding with me hated it too. Sometimes I would get a headache from the noise. With my DS, though, I love the sound. Very addicting. It’s loud with a sweet tone. If I was the only person on earth, I would love everything about the CT exhaust. But I’m not, so I wish it were quiet.

I don't recall when or where, but I read a review somewhere saying the CT exhaust came in at about 106 db on the DS650. I think this was a review from way back in 2001 when I bought my first DS, so unless they've changed their pipe since then, I'd bet that is where it comes in. After what DeanB said about his being loud, it sounds like it is still close to 106 db. DeanB, when did you buy your CT exhaust & was it new or used at that point? I'm just curious to know if it is a newer or older unit which may give some insight on the sound.

I bought my DS used, about a year ago, with the CT exhaust already on it. Sorry, I don't know when the exhaust was purchased.

Is it CT and Alba that make the same pipe? I remember hearing that 2 pipes offered out there are the same
