HD valve springs(anyone?)
#1
I am going to need some HD valve springs. I am runing the stock Cams, but it dawned on me that if I ever wanted to go to larger Cams I will have to take off the head to do so, and since my quad is in a million pieces , I figured I better do it now. right?
I also am going to have to buy a First and Second gear The "dogs" are rounded, and I dont trust them ,and dang sure don't want to have to split the cases agian.
Does anyone have some HD valve springs to sell me, and if not should I go with RWR, or Pami???
Also, Is the dealer the best place to buy gears?
Thanks,
Bigger.

I just bought dual rate heavy duty springs w/ titanium retainers from Web. Spring kit from them is $140. They say that race cams require the shim-under-bucket conversion/spring kit - some say its not necesary, but I figured hell, why not. Its $255. its comes with dual rates, titanium retainers, 4 bucket for shim-under, an bottoms. The shims sit in the retainer inside a lip, the bucket encircles them. Its high rev security to prevent throwing a shim if you float the vavles. The shims they use are standard Kawi.

Hightower, after you went with the underbucket shim kit, did your valve train seem noiser than normal, i hope so, cuase my is making a load valve train noise and im hoping that its just the new style of buckets and springs
