Default What jetting should I use!

I have a 2000 DS 650 with an ALBA Pipe, Silencer and K&N filter. The airbox lid has also been removed and I have drilled two 1" holes on the front side of the box and put filters in them. I ride in Kansas and at Little Sahara in Oklahoma. What jetting should I run in my DS and what other cheap mods can I do to better the machine during drags and hill climbing? Thanks for your help!

After finding the search button, I found many others have had the same question. Sorry abou that. Alba sent a 165 jet with the kit but it misses every now and then so I think I will try a 180 to see what that does plus add in the sand factor. Thanks to those who helped get the spec site up for the correct jetting. Sorry, I was too slow to figure everything out before I made the post!

Jd for a cheap mod try a different sprocket combo. Thats one of my next mods. Not changing my sprocket until after i get my 45mm carb though. After that big bore here I come.

Hey JD, where do you ride in KS? I'm always looking for more places to go. I can't wait to make a trip to Waynoka.

Thanks for the help on this. I have also been thinking about a Ron Woods Rev Limiter but did not want to hurt the engine. I ride around the Cimarron Grass Land area in SW Kansas and have ridden out by the Dam by Tuttle Creek. Most of my riding in Kansas is done at the farm though. Will be in Waynoka, OK in two weeks!!!!

How big is the ride area by the TC Dam? I've never been there, but I've ridden at the ORV area near Randolph. I usually ride at Milford.
How about that Cimmaron Grassland? What town is that near and how big is it? I have some friends that live in SEK, but the only riding I've done down there was on a farm.

No sweat there, you won't hurt the stock engine unless you hold the throttle wide open in nutural.
Get the box, you will love it

JDbigD,

Your in luck!!

Their are some guys in this forum that have thier HSR45mm carb for sale cause they went to dual carbs(for drag racing), and also thier will be some cheap RWR CDi box's for sale pretty quick, cause of a new adjustable CDI n the market that also has the "drag Racers" excited.

These 2 mods (cdi, and 45mm carb) will make a huge difference in power to your DS. And If I were you I would keep an eye open for some of these guys to put their old stuff for sale.

BIggerisbetter.

I would be interested in a used CDI for my DS. Where should I be looking or where do people post their parts for sale. I would probably need to get a tach as well so I can watch my RPM. In response to BigBen, Cimarron National Grassland is near Elkhart, KS. It has many trails, but not any place you can get on it unless you get close to the river. Little Sahara is probably the most popular place for people around Dodge City to go unless they go for an hour or so down the river. Take care and hope to see you at the dunes sometime!
