Default Possible new Power source!!!!

Just got off the phone with Bruce at PSI and we talked about the DS 650. He has been thinking about jumping into one to see what makes it tick and he asked me if I want to be the Guinea pig. He told me he would need my motor for R&D for about 3 to 6 months though. I am very skeptical about that because, WHAT THE HELCK AM I GOING TO RIDE WHEN MY MOTORS GONE??????!!!!!!!!! I know I shouldn't complain after hearing about your missing motors but I will go crazy to be with out my bike for even a month! Well he told me as of now he would do head work, short of changing valves out, manifold, and bore out my carb. Also punch out the cylinder to 102mm and re-nikasil it for about $800.00. That is $800.00 for everything!!! I just can't see where these guy's are coming up with $1800.00 to put in new valves and porting!!!!! How much are the damn valves anyway?!!! And how much do they cost??!! PSI has beenin the Business 20 yrs, and beleive me he knows his sh@%#t! He told me that it shouldn't cost that much to put valves in and to do head work. $500.00 for a full port job is what he charges, including the Intake manifold. He doesn't want to fiddle with the valves unless he is going to do a full R&D on the engine though. This guy is wicked particular!! Check out there site and you can see all the stuff they do. www.psiperformance.com.

DANG!!

I would wait till its is too hot to ride then let him have it!

I agree totally that these shops are charging WAY to much! and it kills me to here guys giving $$$$ for head work when it should only cost 350- 500 MAX!!

I can see spending $$$$ for stroking are Special BIG BORE stuff ( if thats what you want) but alot of these shops are breaking out the Vasoline!! JMO.

$800 for parts/labor? If you don't wanna, i'll yank mine out and send it to him. I just bought my 01 almost two months ago and it has close to 20hrs on it total(its been raining since!). I can wait a little longer...
