Default 105mm??? To do or not to do?

If you punch out your quad to a 105mm how much hotter is it going to run? Also if it is at 12:5:1 can you still run Trick 101 with the 105mm bore? I am concerned about the heat issues as you can tell. I will stay with a 102mm if that is the case.

Default 105mm??? To do or not to do?

i remember another forum member got the 105mm for ct racing and couldn't get the head to seal. but i talked to gary today and yesterday and he said he is working on some steel sleeves for the bigger bores, and i think gary is one person that can get it to seal up. if you still have the fan you could alway add a in line cooler and that engine ice stuff. and some radiator shrouds. knutz once told me the bigger bores ran cooler due to not having to work as hard. so i would go with it would run cool enough. could a person take the radiator to a shop and have them put in bigger cooling rods? i may check on that. well good luck that is a big jump you may want to talk to gary he may have a new option on the stroke.

You have a bit of my info confused, Sandman. A 105 bore will get better milage while trail riding due to the fact that it doesn't have to work as hard, but it will not run any cooler because of that. If a stock cylinder is trasfomed to a 105 bore, it will definatly run hotter. If a steel sleave is used to get to that bore, steel does not transfer the heat as redilly as the alluminum does, and detonation could result. The sleave may cause blockage of head passages also, if not designed properly. For a multitude of reasons[heat control, coolant flow, wall strength, combustion chamber sealing, etc...], a 105MM bore, stock cylinder is not a good idea.

If you want to go with a 105 bore, I HIGHLY recomend doing it the proper way and using the Team Pami cylinder. If someone recomends a cheaper way, keep in mind that you get what you pay for and you may end up with a cheap motor. When a builder compromises quality for profit margin, you may not want to take their advice. E-mail Gottfried [info@team-pami.de] and get some real answers.

soory knutz it been a long time i thought you told me the larger bores were running cooler than the stock machines, and since i wasn't there your right i could be very confused about it. what about the radiator can you, get more cooling out of them, i know we switched in my jeep, it went to two rows of cooling tubes. is the raptor steel sleeve or is it nikalsil?

i have had a digital temp guage on my 760 for the last few months and has yet to get warmer than the cooling fan could handle. the temp would rise to about 185-190 and the fan comes on and suck it down to 150 or so. thats with a pami cylinder. i did notice when i run my shrouds the idle temps go up alot faster than without the the shrouds, must because of the shrouds keeps heat trapped.

hey sandman how are those new arms? i have heard of guys taking off there fans with shrouds, but i don't see how somthing made for pulling in air at speed is going to help when you sit at an idle? the fan is'nt that big of a pain to install and it will let you idle all day without over heating

TVI is obviously not the "Exclusive" US Rep for Pami. I don't think Pami would let an "Exclusive" rep offer products that were not theirs (i.e. sleeved cylinder).

If you go with this and it goes wrong (hope this isn't the case for anyone) don't bash Pami - they have nothing to do with it. I think Pami has had enoug undue bad publicity in the last couple years.

I agree with Knutz.

If you want to go with a less expensive kit go to Sam Coe (more proven) but, be ready to work a little harder on getting it all working correctly.

Please don't take this post the wrong way Angry, I definitely don't see you as the type to bash on someone (unless they are due it - as I would) I just have seen it happen to Pami and I think they got more than their share.

Let us know what you decide to do.
