Default What octane with 12.5:1 piston?

I bought a JE 12.5:1 piston(used, w/ rings, pin, and clips) and was wondering what octane i would need to run in my DS w/ stk cams, bore and head? How 'bout with RWR sport cams?(i know the comp drops when running a longer duration). I really hate to have my DS a race gas only bike, though i don't mind running 93(the best i can redilly get ahold of) as well as some type of octane booster(i know they don't up it much).
How 'bout i put it another way, whats the most comp i can run(w/ stk cams as well as w/ the sport cams) and still use 93 octane? I may have to modify the piston i bought....

Your not going to be able to run 93 octane with a 12.5:1 piston. Need to go up but I'm not sure how much.

Hmmm...had'nt thought of that. The TM45 carb i bought already has jets for running alcohol(also have jets for gasoline), are they simmilar? Where would one get the methanol, and how expensive is it? I don't wanna mess with anything that is hard to come by. Is it high maintenance?(if so, what)

I thought 11:1 or 11.5:1 was about the limit for 93 octane.

Couldn't you run AVgas with it?? You can get 100octane avgas for just about the same price as premium. Just a thought, many people are against avgas, and others swear by it. If I ever go higher compression I am going to try it out.

you sould be albe to get it at a local race track, dirt ovel or drag strip, i got a 55 gallon drum for 65 bucks, im not sure how much the goes for now, i got my last summer, they say that there is alot of maintance but i havnt noiced any problems running with it, some will say you have to purge the carb after a day of use, i normally will do it after a weekend of riding, i dont do many one day trips, cause the alcohol is drier than gas youll need to add a top lube to it to, you can find some already mixed so you dont have to worry about mixing it correctly, plus you can get an scent added so that it doesnt burn your eyes if your behind it or you buddies sence they will be behind ya
