Need help, initial jetting a TM45
You guys could really save me some cash on the dyno if you could give me a ballpark starting point for jetting the 45... I have a set of large/upper RPM cams, drag ported head, oversized valves, 14:1 piston, trinity exhaust, TM45, clamp-on K&N, RWR ignition.... All this is coming together at one time, so I haven`t got a clue on a starting point. This also broke me financially and can`t afford a whole lot of dyno time, whgich is where the experience from you all would be VERY helpful!!!

I would recommend the richest needle #95 at 5th groove, get a variety of pilots up to 55, and several mains up to maybe 165 - possibly higher even.
use the tuning manual instructions that came with the carb - they are pretty well written and easily understood. work on each circuit individually.

What is you altitude there? I would start with a 152.5 main and leave your pilot alone. Go with the #95 needle in the middle clip. If you are clost to sea level the odds are you are going to end up running a 155 or 157.5 main. I highly doubt you will ever need to go over a 160 main though. And you are definatley going to need to run at least a 105 octane fuel.

Thanks for the help....I know better than to not post elevation...brain fart...800ft and an average temp of 70 deg. I will be running C-14 or C-16. I unfortunately did not purchase the carb through Woods so I didn`t get a tuning guide. But I have a pretty good understanding of how to adjust each fuel delivery circuit in the carb. I really appreciate the starting point!!! One more quick question though, since this carb did not come set-up for a DS, which of the three ports on the outside of the carb need to be plugged off? There are two (stacked vertically) on one side, and a solo port above the fuel inlet tube.....do they all get plugged, or all open, or whats the skinny?

Check This out. (Tuning manual)
I run the 45 pilot without accl. pump. 150 main jet (4000' elevation.) I would probably run a 152.5 at sea level (or 800')
That tuning manual is great.
I would start with the pilot jet. I know this sounds weird but, it is always open so a larger pilot will change you main jet (slightly).
If it doesn't start easily go to a larger pilot. If the mixture screw doesn't do anything go to a larger pilot.
Start fat and read your plug(s). Shouldn't take too long.

The jets that are used in the OEm carb are a different type than the jets used in the TM45. If I`m not mistaken, a 200 Main in the OEm carb does not flow the same amount of fuel as a 200 main in the 45...I wouldn`t compare these recommendations with an OEM carb, kinda apples and oranges.
