Outlander4 Std vs. XT
#1
Anyone have info on how much more the xt goes for? Is it worth it or can I save some chang by outfitting it myself? I think I'm just about decided on the outlander4, but going to ride a vinson and sportsman monday just to be sure. Input appreciated! Oh, btw, are the xt's out yet? I have to get with my dealer and see if he has one in stock, I'm a right now kinda guy when I make up my mind

List is $800 more. This is what you get: Chrome rims
Heavy-duty front and rear bumpers
Handlebar guards
Standard installed 2500 lbs Warn††† winch with handlebar control.
Where in the UP are you? I'm in Iron Mountain. Dealer here does not have any XTs yet.

Hey, we're almost neighbors, I'm in Esky. I have to get w/my dealer tomorrow, see if he has any and how much. Figure if I can get xt for 6 bills more, might be reasonable to get it and not have to install it. All I really want is bumpers and winch. Do you trail ride at all?

95sport, Was into the dealer today (EC sprts). NO xts, darn! And only red in the regulars. I like the red, but dig the yellow too. Really can't decide here, between the outlander 4 and the vinson 5 by suzook. Rode both of them today, unfortunately the 'zook dealer does't have a lot of space so I wasn't able to check out top end or do much cornering or off camber type riding. I was able to check out all these things on the bombi, guy let me ride it as long and whereever I wanted to. Nice dealer. The outlander does seem to have a little more body roll in turns, but not excessive. That was the main thing I liked about the straight axle vinson, more stable and able to power it thru a corner a little better rather than be tentative. 'Zook has a little nicer dash pod and an extra light too. I'm just not sure how the swingarm rear will handle in more technical off camber woods riding. I mean I'm sure it'll be a little rougher ride, just not sure if it'll be a big deal. Outlander's about 4 bills less too, with the 3 yr warranty. Right now I'm leaning to the outlander, but just can't decide. Dam!

Hey GT2. A couple of my buddies do some fairly technical (and muddy) riding and are trying to talk me into selling my street bike and getting a 4x4 quad. I had pretty much decided that if I did, I would get the Sportsman 600. Then I read about the Outlander. It's really got alot going for it. I wouldn't get a solid axle for the kind of stuff they do, but that's based on what they tell me and not on personal experience. I don't know about you guys down there, but I don't know anyone around here who actually titles or registers their atvs. Just slap the ORV sticker on and go. What this means is if you buy from a Wisconsin dealer you can save the sales tax. Spread Eagle Marine has the Outlander (red only, I like the yellow, too) stickered at $5599. I haven't dickered with them at all since I'm not in a position to buy yet.

95sport, what you need to do is keep the road bike and buy the quad anyway...LOL. What are you riding? I can't wait for warmer weather now that the (teensy bit of) snow we had is gone. Get the sled put to bed and break out the magna, I have a 94. It'd be nice to smash some bugs within a month. Right now it's snowing. L8r

This is getting eerie! '84 V65 Magna! Had it out last Monday when it was 65 degrees. We only got two rides on the sleds and none around home. Couldn't ride here last winter either. Hard to beleive this is supposed to be the "Winter Wonderland". Got too many payments to buy anything without having to sell something else. Sucks, but what's a guy to do. Been contemplating a crotch rocket as well. Got the Magna because the little lady liked cruisers. She's history now (big part of the money crunch) so I can get whatever I want, if I can afford to.

Gee, funny how you meet people on the net, hey? Just moved to Esky here a few months ago, so I need a new riding buddy. Ever get over this way? Mostly I just ride to/fro work to have a little more fun than cagin it, but get away for the occasional weekend day (more like 1/2 day with 2 small kids) trip.
BTW, my local suzook dealer is bringing the vinson to my house thurs morning so I can try it out in more natural area. The sled trail runs thru my back yard, so should be fun. He seems pretty confident once I ride the vinson I'll buy it. I was impressed with the outlander, lots of new tech and ideas there. More likely than not, though, the extra snort from the 5oo will win my heart over as long as handling is close. After all, why else does a guy have motorized toys? LOL

I've got a bad back and arthritis (or tendenitis, or some wierd sh*t) in my right elbow that really acts up on the bike. Of the three toys (sled, bike and quad) the bike is by far the most uncomfortable for me so my rides are usually just 30-45 minute blasts close to home. One of the reasons I'm looking at a sport bike again is because that bent over riding position is actually easier on my body than leaning back with my arms stretched out. Who knows though, I might get down your way. Maybe when ABATE has their pig roast.
I haven't ridden the Outlander, but the magazine tests all said it smokes every 400 in it's class and runs dead even with the Sportsman 500. You might find that the Vinson doesn't feel any stronger. Let me know after you ride it. You're right about power, that's why I bought the V65. That thing rocks!

So which of the crotchies are you looking at? I love the mag. I had a shadow 11oo for 2 years before I bought this last summer. Comfy bike, just no nuts. Didn't take me long to figure out I didn't want the "v twin image" as much as I thought I did. Just took me a while to let the wife cool down from that purchase to tell her I'm selling it to buy a different bike...LOL. We'll have to hook up sometime this summer, I should get over your way sooner or later. I'll get back with ya on the vinson tomorrow. HOpe it doesn't ice up tonight like they're predicting. I wanted to try it out in the dirt, not snow and ice. May have to reschedule if weather gets nasty.
