Default Which Shocks???

dsride i now have 16" of travel front and rear. but i did have to go +1" wider front Aarms and +2" longer swing arm. i feel i got what i paid for after riding with other machines, there is a huge difference in the right shock matched up to you'r riding style.

JeffRoe, Do you still have the stock steering. Just want to know how they got around the issue of bump steer with 16in. of travel.

yes stil has stock steering but with massive tie rods. if you pull all the way up on the front end (fully extended travel 16") and try to ride it the steering is very heavy, due to the rear ward pitch of the hub at this angle. but as soon as the shock settles down into normal ride height (shocks have about 3" of sag front and rear) it steers as easy as stocker. the pics in my gallery have the suspension fully extended up about where they would be going off a jump, when riding the suspension is about 1-2" higher than stock. thad at socal has thought out this suspension and tested it fully on his own stuff and it really works sweet!!! i might have to change my screen name fron jeffroe to highrider

Have you cycled it to see were your caster is at full sag and full bottom. It seems there would be a ton of bump steer with stock steering. This is the only quad I have seen that works ok with 17in. of travel. But this quad also suffers from bump steer.

Wow, that Sundahl frame is different. The lower A-arms remind me of that ford suspension, I believe its called I-Beam or something like that. You would think that the top and bottom A-arm angles would be all screwed up due to the different mounting locations.

Jeffroe, you can always add power steering! After all you have as much travel as the long travel sandrails, and I seen a few of them fun power steering in the dunes.

thad said he did cycle the suspension but said that there was very little bump steer (no more than usual for a ds) and riding it now without the steering stabilizer i don't feel any wondering or twiching in the front end. when i installed the upper Aarms i noticed he had built in enough caster, equal to what i had befor with my adjustable arms. remember the machine dosn't ride all the way at the top of the usable travel, when you sit down it will sag about 3" down putting it close to the stock settings for steering, and with the built in caster he puts in the arms the twich is gone.
