To all of the DS riders out there, Go and buy the tm48mm from Ron Woods. Then have your local machine shop take it and bore it out to at least 50mm (maybe they can do a taper bore for you) and slap those carbs on there. If you want HP then lets make some HP. Why screw around with the small stuff?

I honestly cant tell the differance in the 42 hsr..Only that I now have the lag on the low end...
I was thinking of going ot the lectron44. It is bigger then the 42 stock, its a flat slide and its easyer to tune with now bottom lag..

 

i don't have that bottom lag on my 45 and no pump, it is jetted at 160, 47.5 pilot and i think it was in the middle on the needle, i had the local shop help but i think the difference is that we set the idle a little higher not screaming, i've only noticed a couple of carb pops, i don't seem to need much choke though. i would say i had more problems with the stock carb with wheelis and jumping the studder after landing. now the problem i do have is the filter on the carb and rubbing. so maybe i have a power problem, that i don't realise i was hearing to jet down with the 45mm but it sure runs nice and i go fromm 4000 to sea level.

 

Wow a 160 main!? That is knarly!!!! Anything over a 155 was way to fat for my bike before and after Mods.

 

well i have to say it is a concern for me i'm trying to figure this thing out, like i said it runs great, jump on and go and it feels like it pulls hard, but that thing with the wifes ds being right there is annoying, you would think stage 2+ would be all over her stage 3/4 but i have run other stage twos and we're all right there, i am going to try the smaller jet and see if things change, i was looking at the plug electrode like you mentioned, well if you know anything else about this it would help a lot. keep us posted on the 720, i'm really thinking about gary's 680 but want to make sure these things hold together.

 

Hey zZArAZz I live in Powell and ride around Wayne National Forest and lots of other spots, a buddy also has a DS and we race all the time, he is bone stock and mine has a stage one minus the carb and until I got it jetted right he would beat me in a drag race. It is a different story now, I got some great carb tuning tips from Mr. Horsepower and WOW what a difference PM me and I'll fill you in on how to tune your stock carb before you spend the cash on the 45.
