Ron Woods thoughts ???
#1
I have been an outsider to this site for a while but have always looked through the posts on this forum and decided to come out of the shadows and join in on some, But I have a question for you guys I have had my new baja for about a month now and last week changed the oil in her and did every suggested step in the procedure only to find my oil pressure switch had went bad but an autometer gauge and I;m back up and running again. Here's my gripe alot of you fella's talk about ron woods and his products....well while I was having trouble with this switch I decided I would call this guru of bombardier's and get his opinion on why I was having trouble with the light and switch during the oil change,, The sad thing he told me was he had not messed with the ds engine much!!!! He said he didn't know how to bleed the system...I darn near started laughing at him I said you make all these hop-up kits for it and don't know how to change oil in it! He said we never keep one long enough to change oil in them. I don't know about the rest of ya but that pretty much told me who's parts to stay away from I'm not buying any custom products for a machine that the man who's building them doesn't know how to change oil in!!LOL! I still can't beleive it but I'm really getting a kick out of it.

First off, WELCOME to the forum.
Second, I dissagree you. RWR is one of the VERY best in Rotax Power! It makes perfect since to me that he may not know how the bleed to Oil system. When he gets a motor its is "dry" and out of the motor. And when he is done with it, it is FAST and still dry.
He is a biulder, not a maintanance man. He knows things about how the get the most power out of a 650cc Rotax engine. I personally think its ok for him to NOT know how to bleed the oil system(thats my job), He needs to concentrate on staying ON TOP of the Rotax Engine, and keep producing TOP-Notch High performace parts for us to enjoy!!!

But it is prabably, Azsand, or Kmduner, or 14mins

Don't knock them till you try them. You maybe burning bridges! The next time a DS blows by you, look for the Ron Woods stickers.

well i can see your concern, i had the same problem taking my quad to the dealer when they said they had never worked on one.
well a little info on who i think you talked to, elliotte very nice guy as you found out he is very honest, and from what i understand he is a machine rider that works the phones, he will help on a lot of things, not related to oil, or gearing that was the one i was asking when i was new. the woods products are great, they have the carb that everyone would like to have, and if you do a search you will see they do a lot to help with getting them to work. there pipe is one of the best. and for the price there cdi is right there. if you have a woods piston you can order a new set of rings, no trying to figure out what piston you have. well i'm not trying to sell you woods there are plenty of other places but, would rather help with keeping your options open.
as far as the oil thing i would be a little more concerned with your dealer for not walking you thru the proceedure better, i know mine did. well welcome to the forum, and keep them options open, for direct replacement parts i would say woods is the best, and i don't think i have ever seen anyone report a failure of his parts. how nice they are he sent me the pump parts for my carb and i bought it used, and did i say free, he helped me out with a cam problem once, there really nice people there.

Ok,Ok , is it to late to say I'm sorry???.. I didn't mean to bash on mr.woods but I will admit I was upset when my dealer couldn't figure out my problem and then I search the web trying to find someone who is familiar with rotax, and sells all these aftermarket parts and then get told I don't know how! Sorry I will leave this one go but I do think it is best to know all aspects of an engine before selling custom accessories for it. I will keep my opinion to myself
Sorry
