need help......decision time for engine work
#1
i have a stock motor......with a bad rod, so i was deciding between going big and a rod kit or going with high compression piston, rod kit, and cams.
my riding consists of trail riding and some open riding. one a year dunes.....i also do not have time for a lot of maitenance. and i plan on spending between 1500 and 2000.
any suggestions?

I am a big fan of the samcoe 733 - it is a high compression kit (12:1) with a raptor carillo rod - it makes a huge improvement over the stock motor. If you do the work the cost is about $1200. that includes a core swap for the 103mm jug . I've had no problems with any thing except
piston to head clearance. It uses a cometic head gasket and I've never had a problem with leakage of anykind. The piston to head clearance issue took a couple of hours to resolve and some machine work. For someone that just wants a bolt on kit and doesn't want to spend the time
to modify their head - this kit would not be for them. I only suggest it because of the work you are going thru anyways. It is a powerful motor and that coupled with a TM45 or dual 39's makes a potent combination.
samcoe 733- $1200
TM45 $360.00
woods cdi $270
leave you stock cams in and it will be a torque monster.
other options:
Contact Gary at TVI or Trinity to see what they might offer. It is a great motor to work on!
