New purchase, need some help
#1
I finally broke down and got a 02 Baja after much research and am very happy with my decision. I do have a few questions I need some help with. First I am a big guy (6'4" 300#'s) and I noticed it bogs down a little going up steep inclines. Would I be better off dropping a tooth on the front sprocket or doing some engine mods to increase power? I noticed that some other people on other sites have jetted their carbs and have basically a stock bike, would this yeild any improvement? Also I live in Florida where the terain is loose sand and hardpacked sand, the stock tires don't get the best traction but I don't think paddle tires would work either due to the hardpack, Any recomendations?

Gearing down would probably help, I'm going to do that next.
Just a few simple mods do a lot to wake up the DS. Just my filter, jet kit, and modified endcap made a night and day difference. No more complaints about not being able to get the front end light for going over obstacles.

gear down to 15 or even 14 try rocky mountain they have front sprockets for 12.99, then put a pipe and cdi on there and it will be a different machine. then pm azsand i think he has the notes on every mod you could want to do.

If you want traction in sand but dont need paddles try 4-snows. They hook up great but will not hold up in rocks because of how soft they are. If you are bogging I dont think I would add the weight of a Realtor. For all around use and good traction try the radial Dunlop that comes on the Raptor or the Ohtsu on the new Baja or 400EX they are very spoty and light also.
