Rear shock?? please help.....

On the rear shock of my 02 DS there is an adjustment for compression (on the resovoir), rebound is on the bottom of the shock. There is a valve stem on the end of the remote resovoir, what is that for. It has pressure, I assume for preload or something. The manual says nothing about it , how much pressure should it have? What is the correct range from stiff to soft in psi? If I am incorrect about any of this stuff please correct me. I am trying to make adjustments but don't want to get it way out before I know what I'm doing

The only thing that you should use that for is for checking the pressure. It is filled with Nitrogen Gas. I'm not sure what the spec is for a PSI, but the authorized repair shops or good after-market shops will be able to fill it for you.

Spincycle the pressure that goes in the rezzie is 300psi of nitrogen. There is such a small amount in the rezzie that it can not be checked with a gauge without letting to much out.You just fill it to 300psi.This should only be done by someone who is a shock guru.Spincycle want is the problem? and why are you adjusting the rear shock?

I haven't found any dealers that can answer the question "what psi nitrogen"? So I contacted the mfg (Bombardier) and they e-mailed me the answer "300psi nitrogen". When I checked my DS is was at 100 psi, I made a way to fill it to 300, It made a huge differance. My friends DS was at 40 psi and another friends was at 0psi. I filled them up and they both said "WOW".
None of my local dealers knew how much. I told them and none of them have the capability. I think a good Sand rail/off road dealr can do it.
I hope this helps.............

Well stupid me... I just touched it with the end of my pocket knife to see if it had pressure and guess what.. it did. Now I gues it's going to be a trip to the dealer to refill it. I'm sure I didn't lose much but it should probably be corrected. Am I correct on the other adjustments? The reason for the adjustments is I would like it to ride a little more cushy than it does, I ride in the dunes and am not a *real* aggressive rider and my weight is about 175#.
And thanks for everyones input!

Spincycle I would let most of the compression dampening out.Turn the screw counter clockwise in the rezzie. If that don't work you can let some of the preload out of the spring by loosening the jam nuts on the shock body. That can be a bit of a bear you should take all the wieght off the rear shock by jacking it up.You could also get different spring rates from bombardier.Or you could have the dampening valving changed.

I took my DS to a local shop to have them refill the nitrogen in my shock, when I questioned the tech about the pressure he showed me a manual that said the pressure should be 242psi??? I didn't get a look at the cover so I don't know why it was not 300psi but he would not exceed that spec. Any ideas? I assume that this will be ok until I can get it back to TVI to have them check it...
