you never get the porcelain as tan as you think it otta be on the DS - and it takes a lot longer than others too. if there is chalky black soot on the base then its rich like BIG said. its deceiving - I guess its from the cooler combustion temps due to the aluminum cylinder, along with dual plugs for a thorough clean burn, but you never get the white porcelain to be as tan as you're used to on other bikes.
in a nut shell, you want to leave in the main jet that gives you the best and most rapid acceleration from 1/2 to full throttle.

Alba reccomends a 47.5 pilot jet. Do you think that they will sell me one if I contact them. I've never heard of a 47.5 and everybody I try buying pilot jets from say they don't exist. What is the deal with that
And about the black soot on the bottom of the plug, I can't explain that except for I drilled out my pilot jet way bigger than I was supposed to and it ran really rich for a minute.
I just started to get some color after turning the mixture screw out 3 turns and it only has another 1/2 turn to go so I think I might be going to a 47.5 or 50 depending on what I can get and probably drop down to a DJ195 and then I'm pretty sure I will need the clip in the 4th clip.
How does that sound? Does anybody oppose the size 50 Pilot jet?

Crazy i can help you!! i had these same problems and got so fed up now i have installed a dial a jet and it runs better than ever, i ran a 200DJ forever and kept getting white plugs, i even went to a 210 still white, never ran real good, anyway the dial a jet i can adjust through differnt settings and it runs right with a 190-195 ish range... So the plugs dont tell much in the DS, So the whole time i was running too rich, try going to a 190 and/or a 195 and i bet it runs a whole lot better!!
