Hello:
We bought our son a REDCAT/KAZUMA 50cc quad for christmas. The second time he rode it, the starter assembly smoked and caught fire...ok, I can handle this...got a bad wire. They sent a new one. Took him out today, played in the mud. I will be honest, this little thing, when running, is very sweet. The starter assembly got splashed. It will not work now. They are sending me another one. My biggest question is can a honda, suzuki, or another brand work on the REDCAT/KAZUMA?
Any help would be great. Starting to get *$ssed off.
Thanks!!!!

I do not think any other brand starter will work in that unit. I am 99.9% sure. #1 the unit should be warranted!! You should not be paying for a starter?? but that all matters on who you bought it from?? I have had seen some problems here and there with the starters. But it sounds like you are having some real bad luck. If they are sending you a starter I would take the old one some place and get it rebuilt just to have. But to be honest those little bike have been really good runners. Almost no problem. Here and there a starter or a C.D.I box but I would hang in there and don't get upset. I think once you get past this you should be ok!!!! Let me know if anything else goes wrong and I will see what I can do.

Thanks for the info. I do have the 6 month warranty, but my point was, he has ridden the ATV three times, and we are having the third starter sent to us. I like the ATV, it runs like a champ, and is loaded with great safety features. I was just woundering how can we water-proof the starter assembly better? My friend is a master marine mechanic, he said he can put a marine start and kill unit on it, that is marine rated, and the problem is over..I wouls rather stay with the ATV parts.
I will keep you up to date on this!!!
Thanks again!!!!
