Falcon 250 Performance Upgrades

Thanks, I am looking forward to them, BTW do you have any updates on the jetting for the mikuni and what your final results were?
And if you ever want to throw a header and pipe on it, the guys I bought my quads from have a pipe in development for the 250. You should talk to them I am sure they would love some advice.

Using the Mikuni 34mm flatslide carb (TM34-2) ordered from Dennis Kirk I ended up using the stock needle jet and jet needle. Jet needle set in the next to leanest position at the moment. Replaced pilot jet with a #45 for an 88 Suzuki Quadsport 250. Main jet is a 210. Uni Pod air filter mounted directly on carb intake (UP-4229 2 1/4" x 4"). Bike starts without choke (garage kept), is ready to ride in about 2 to 3 minutes. Power feels like twice of what I had with stock carb. Jetting was purchased from Ronnies Mail order using their oem parts ordering and using a 1988 Suzuki Quad. Everything else was ordered from Dennis Kirk. Engine runs best with 1 1/8 hole drilled through the rear of the muffler, removing the existing small tube and 1 1/8 hole through the next plate inside the muffler. Runs great and doesn't sound obnoxious. I just welded a stainless steel 1 1/2 x 1/8 tube on the back of the muffler and it quieted down a bit but didn't change the performance. The tube has a flanged end and I tried a couple of cover plates with varying size holes in them and the 1 1/8 seems to be the best. Haven't tried increasing the size at all.
Hope this info helps.

Figured I would give an update to a new problem with the Falcon 250 that would be a good thing for others to check. Riding around on Sunday and lost all forward and reverse movement. Nasty grinding noise coming from the front of the CVT/engine area. I took the cover off the CVT/belt area and found that the nut that holds the two halves of the drive pulley together had loosened and just about came off. I took everything apart and checked it over. All was fine so I put the pulley back together and used blue loctite on the nut. Gained some more top speed since the pulley is all the way together. This was the only area, aside from inside the motor, that I didn't check the nuts and bolts in. Next time I will.

I have a setup guide that I wrote for USA-ATV's. It is in MS Word format with pictures and explanations on valve adjustments, carb adjustments and a ton of other things that should/can be done. You can either reply with your email or send me a private message with it. I'd be happy to send it to you. You can then email me with any questions the setup guide doesn't cover. I had my 250 out today riding with a Honda 125 dirt bike, Honda 400 Quad and Honda 450 Quad and held my own on the trails. I couldn't keep up with the quads running down a long straightaway in a field but they didn't get too far ahead. I can't expect too much since I was outgunned in displacement. That is with my new carb that I finished installing last night and have yet to fine tune. I am very surprised at the power that I have been able to get out of this quad. Better than I expected.

please email me that guide you have. I took off the carb and starter to weld a broken motor mount and after a couple of months of waiting have forgotten where each line goes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Adamj@valdosta.edu
