I just bought a 250 Giovanni on Ebay for under 2000 delivered. Is this another rebadged Jianshe? It has chain drive which I don't really care for but the price was pretty cheap. Maybe someone can help me out, I went to Canadian Tire tonight and seen the Wilderness 250. I put it in neutral and picked up the rear end and spun the rear tires. Both tires then spun in the same direction. I was told when you did this to the Giovanni, the tires spun in opposite directions. Does this mean only one wheel will spin in the mud? If that's the case, this thing will be get stuck quite easily. Get what you pay for I guess.

Today my speedometer stopped working on my baja wilderness 250, but the numbers 00 km are still thier and the kms I put on it until it stopped working are thier, everything else lights up an seems fine, the speedometer stays at 00 km and same for miles when I switch it to miles, but I noticed once in awhile it will pick up the kms but only for a second or two then back to 00 km for the most part, and when its does come on only for a second the read is way off and to low what im actually traveling. Any ideas ?

Also when I turn the key the KMs count down from 9 to 0 like it did before, so im sure the digital display is working for the most part.

Sounds like your speed sensor is not working or the signal is not getting to the speedo head. Mine was not working right from the dealer. Had the speed sensor changed under warranty.

Hello Sawyer:

Please be very careful when buying any type of mechanical or electronic device from China. I spend more than half my time in Vietnam. China is the best at making something look like something it is not. They are masters at making something look like it is quality but it is really made from poor quality materials. The people of Vietnam are poor. China dumps cheap products all over that region. Every product bought from china is viewed as disposable. In Vietnam they don't drive cars mostly motorcycles (scooters). You will see 30 year old hondas on the road every day. They will pay $7,000.00 USD for a quality product such as a Honda. They hesitate to pay $2,500.00 for a similar Chinese product. Looks the same lasts 3 to 4 years if you baby it. If you have a razor phone in Vietnam they will first compliment you then ask you where it's from. Take the battery out look and you see either, Japan, Singapore or China as the manufacturer. If it says Singapore or Japan they'll tell you "thats a good one" if it says China they'll tell you " don't drop it or it won't work any more". These people know Chinese products they are forced to be exposed to them every day.

I have 9 quads. Everything from a tricked out 100 horsepower 1987 banshee, brand new raptors, to 50cc suzuki quad for my kid. I would pay $10,000.00 for a Japanese ATV before I would pay $1,000.00 for a Chinese Quad.

You have to remember, China's sole purpose right now is to pay their people nothing with a currency they print themselves that is tied to no other currency and use that to manufacture goods to sell to the world in exchange for hard currency to fill their war coffins to build a military. Their ambitions are set on being te dominate power in the world.

They just make products that look good that are worthless as a way to exchange their worthless money for good money to buy what they need so they can kick our *** in a war when the time comes. Don't buy chinese goods. It's not good for you, me, our contries or our families. Think about the North Korea situation. The next war is just a few years away. Don't help their economy help your own or someones that will help you. Buy good products not deceptions

I agree China produces some pretty crappy stuff with out question. However they do produce good products as well. I can buy a 18volt cheapo cordless drill from China for $20 or a Brand name drill for $150 which is also made in China.

The western world is addicted to cheap products from China. Probably the biggest China distributor in North America is Wal-mart!! How many billions of products sales do they have a year and how much is imported from China?? There is a huge trade imbalance.

Many western companies get parts made in China. Lets not be naive auto manufactures and ATV manufactures like honda, yamaha etc. also get stuff made in China. Like who doesn't tell me??

The USA sells stuff to China also like Agricultural products, Corn, Beans etc. But not enough to balance things out.

I guess you could say its buyer beware when buying stuff from China. No things are not always the same. However some things and not that bad for the money invested. And people should not be mislead in thinking the $900 quad a wal-mart is the exact same quad as a $2500 honda quad.

I've never said they were the same. I have said though that some of stuff is pretty good for the money spent on them.

Hi all Im new around here. I purchaced the 250 Baja from Canadian Tire in Sept 06, my first ATV. After carfully following the break-in instructions I started doing some nice trails, Im around 1000 Km's on it now with no real problems exept for some oil leaking from the rubber boot that conects the drive shaft. Last week I was doing some doughnuts in the gravel and my rear wheel flew right off!. I got it home, I found I had lost the cotter pin some how. Under closer inspection I noticed all the splines in the drum had been warn down to nothing. So I am now waiting for my new drum.

I had oil leaking from the rubber boot as well. I took it to a shop and they said they couldn't see it leaking from inside the boot. They did find theat the sensor on the motor in front of the boot was leaking. He though the oil was running back and into the boot. Its a plastic sensor with a metal nut. It was striped and still leaking when I got it back from the shop. I won't be going back there anytime soon. I managed to fix the leak myself. Time will tell if that was the problem. I'll inspect the inside of the boot for oil in about 200KM more of use. I've got about 600KM's on mine now. I'll have to take a look at the wheels on mine. How do you think you lost the cotter pin?

My Brakes suck...they have from the start. I suspect the rotors were coated with oil for shipping and they weren't cleaned off by the Canadian Tire PDI guys. Anyhow the rotor are clean now. I still can't lock up the front tires and stopping distance is horrible. I have bled the brakes and topped up the brake with the proper fluid. The back brake isn't good either but I expect less from it. How are the brakes on your guys baja 250's? Any suggestions for making mine better?

thanks,
Brendin

My front and rear brakes are great. I can lock up the rears with my foot brake and the fronts will lock up easily. You may have oil on the pads. Just remove them and spray them with brake cleaner. Let them dry out then take some emery cloth and sand them down to roughen them up and get rid of the top layer of crud. Also clean the rotors again and give them a little sanding also. If the quad is still under warranty, just get them to put new ones on it.

There is no way in hell I can lock up my back brakes...I've even tried them adjusted to maximum braking...I should take apart the drum and take a look. On your front brake handle at the adjustment bolt is it touching the plunger when the brake is not applied and do you have some free play? To get any type of braking on the fronts I had to almost turn my bolt all the way in and it is depressing the plunger inside when the brake isn't applied. I put the bike on a stand and the front wheels freely rotate when I spin them with this setting so I know the brakes aren't engaging...I'd really like to know why my back brakes are so weak... Which model of the 250 do you have the lonshin or the jianshe? I have the jianshe model.
