Alright, now having rode the 250 trail riding all day I now retracked my statement about the 15 tooth being perfect gearing. It is still too high! It may be fine for racing around but it needs to be lower for climbing and trail riding which is what I will primarily be doing. John is there a 14 or 13 tooth available? With the 15 tooth the Jetmoto 150 will out climb the 250 from a stand start from the bottom of the hill! The 150 is a real climbing machine! Not sure a 14 tooth will even take it down far enough for my liking! Riding all day I don't think I got into 4th gear more then once.
The only other complaint with the 250 is that the chain slaps the glider all the time and is quite noisy! I have seen a Roketa 250 that had top and bottom chain tentioners that would solve this problem (they were even gears rollers), just an idea.
The 250's run great and was real easy for the wife to ride!
I am adding a link to all my videos I make on my Photo page!

I agree also about the chain slapping the swingarm. Makes quite a racket. I think if the spring on the tensioner was stronger it might help. The pad on top of the swingarm, and the tensioner roller are way too hard. Nylon, or UHMW would be better, and they are somewhat self lubricating.
BTW, I did find out you cannot oil the air filter. It won't run very well. I had to wash mine back out. I also made a guard out of perferated sheet metal for the oil cooler. I used the two upper cooler mounting bolts to attach it. Figured it couldn't hurt, and will keep rocks/sticks from punching a hole in the cooler.
All this is meant to be constructive critisism.

I think all our suggestions can help make the 08 quads better!
I also was concerned about the oil cooler not being guarded. I most likely will do something similar to what you have done. I oil soaked the 150's filters and placed a old sock over the 250's filter just for added filtering. The sock can be replaced when ever it gets dirty easily!
I hope we can get a lower gear, I really feel the 13 tooth may be the ticket!
It's good to have others on here to compare notes with on these new quads!

Well I got the 15 tooth sprocket installed. Made quite a difference. I agree that a 13 tooth sprocket might be perfect. Still can't lug it down like I feel a 250 thumper should, but MUCH better. Looks like I'm going to have to remove a link in the chain. I have no more take up left, and I'm sure it isn't through stretching. BTW, is the sprocket supposed to float in and out on the output shaft? The retainer dosen't mount it up tight on mine.
Curious... if the motor is an older Yamaha design, wouldn't Yamaha have sprockets that would fit?
