outofline.....A good rule of thumb when thinking about sprocket changes is 1 tooth on the front sprocket is equal to approx 3 teeth on the rear sprocket. That puts your 14/40 (similar to a 15/43) within 3 teeth of the 15/46 the v-bike is using. You would notice more low end power, but you would also notice a lower top speed.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>maybe thats my problem i read to much, after owning 8 chinese atv"s i think i have the right to express my opinion, i had m/c and atv' since 1965, i've owned more m/c's than i could prossibly think of including sacks, sears allstate, factory RR bikes from both honda and yamaha, 3 wheelers , 4 wheelers owned a m/c atv dealer from late 70's to early 90's and never in my life seen this kinda crap coming from any other country</end quote></div>

yea thats probably why</end quote></div>

I have my beef's with chinese quads like everyone. The first ones they shipped over were pretty bad and many still are. I have one thats been pretty darn good and one thats been a pain but I think I got it fixed now......However if you drive something hard no matter what things wear out. I've been shopping for a 4x4 (main line) quad and been surprised as the owners of them that 'drive' them are replacing ball joints, wheel bearings, CV shafts and so forth on quads that are only a few years old.

Dont you remember all the minibikes being sold during the early 70's? A few were good, a few were decent and a bunch were junk. Seems to be sort of like that now.

Ive got a couple of Mini Bike Guide Christmas(69 &70) issues and its afascinating how many people(companies) were making minibikes.(I had forgotten most of them) Now 35+ years later its quads.

229cc is a odd number and the exact same displacement as the Honda 250's. Do the Jetmotos use a Honda clone motor ?

Sawyer, I lived in Palatine Ill from '69 to '73. I do remember a lot of snowmobiles in the motorcycle shops. A few made just for kids also.

Both the Recon and EX have a 229cc displacement. Kinda of a coincidence that the Jetmoto has the same odd displacement to me.

250 Recon and 250EX specs

Does the 250 Jetmoto have the Honda Bore x Stroke of 68.5 x 62.2 mm?

It is kinda interesting.....the Recon motor is that push rod, mounted sideways, engine isnt it?

The EX is more conventional with a OHC?

The Jetmoto 250 (229cc) started out as the Jetmoto 200 engine. Supposedly there is a 300cc version also, but thats not the engine Jetmoto will be using in their next quad.

It's been a while since posting, but i put a 50 tooth rear sprocket on my wifes 250 and it finally runs like a 250 thumper should. Nothing else i have tried has came close to the difference the 50 tooth on the rear and 14 on the front combination.
