JM vs E-TON
#1
Was at my honda dealer picking up some supplies when i noticed an E-TON viper 150 on the floor.I have never seen one before but was very impressed.Looks like a great 150.Do you think the new jm 150 will match this machine.Dont no much about them, were are they made?My son is already looking to move up from the jm125 into the fully auto 150.This new jm sounds nice but i may wont to look at the E-ton as well.

Just did a search on the E-TON viper 150 and find they sure want a lot for them! Most places are asking upwards of $2400. That?s over a thousand more then most other 150's. They look pretty good and must say they are one of the few that uses different plastic and other parts then most the other Chinese quads including Jetmoto. I do have a hang up about the Front Drum Brakes, I don't know why but I will not buy unless it has Disc all the way around. They sure don't post many photos of the unit even on the E-Ton site. This concerns me a bit! Rear tires look quite wide and look good, and they are showing 300lbs weight which is heavier then the other 150's!

The E-Tons are manufactured in Taiwan. The quad is nice and the quality has gotten a lot better over the years. With that said and their current popularity they now cost quite a bit more. When you were at the Honda dealer what was his out the door price for that Viper? The web site lists the Viper 150 at $2649.00 and I'm going to assume this does not include tax, license, and all the other fees the dealer is going to charge you. Your son is still growing, and he will probably grow out of the 150 pretty quick too. I think Jetmoto has their 150 listed for $1549.00 and I do believe Raceway may sell the quad a little cheaper. Is the extra $1000.00 or more worth the price for the E-Ton? I do not think so. At least not for me. You will get a better resale on the E-Ton if you do ever decide to sell it. It really is going to come down to what your needs are in the quad and what you are willing to spend.
For those of you wondering if the quad would struggle with the added weight on the new Jetmoto150, the E-Ton weighs in at 379 pounds and it uses the same GY6 style engine as the Jetmoto. With the proper gearing and suspension the quads will do just fine with the added weight. They weren't speed demons to begin with. Here is something else to think about if your wondering about a weight issue. They make Chinese buggies that weigh even more than the quads that use the same GY6 style engine in them.
Good Luck.

If the dealer is going to sell you that Kymco Mongoose 250 for $2800.00 out the door I would jump on it. The Kymco was our 3rd choice when we were looking at a new quad for my daughter. We didn't even consider the E-Ton 250 in our choices. Our next choices were the Cam-Am DS 250, Artic Cat DVX250, and the Phoenix 200.
Since Jetmoto is using the new 150 engine in the new 250 frame, the quality should surpass last year's model ten-fold. But, again, the quad's are new and unproven to date. We really won't know the status of the quad's until people take them out to the dirt or sand and put them thru their tests. They may go through some changes and may cause some headaches, but that is part of the growth of these quads.
Good Luck with your purchase.

mywifesquad,
I checked with the family and so far it looks like we are open on President's weekend. So, yes, I am up for a Gorman weekend. Is this a personal trip or a Jetmoto get together? Let me know the scoop, like where and when.
