Kazuma Opinions?
#11
I purchased a 90cc Kazuma (no specific model) for my 6 year old son 1 year ago for $640 shipped to my door step. The quad has been pretty good so far. I think i got lucky with the one they sent me--I did not purchase from Raceway. I had to replace the fuel filter right away and the battery six weeks later. The remote kill switch they give you is great because it's just like a car key-fob. This particular Kazuma is not very trail worthy because the ground clearance is too low. It is a good quad to learn on. The 90cc Loncin motor it came with is an air cooled 4-stroke with surprising power. I highly recomend you set the throttle limiter to restrict the speed.
In my opinion with the Chinese brand atv's ie Kazuma or Jetmoto whenever you get a larger quad with the larger motor is where the trouble begins. Once you start purchasing bigger machines over 90cc i've noticed a lot more problems come into play. The 150cc Jetmoto i purchaed last year was piece of junk not to mention a waste of time & money.
If you not very mechanic savy I would stay away from these machines, look for the good deal new/used, and stick with the reputible manufacterer ie polaris - yamaha - suzuki - honda, etc...

Thanks for the input everyone. I was an auto mechanic for over 10 years before I got tired of it so minor things going wrong won't bug me too much. I'll probably go for the Falcon 90 deluxe but I'm really tempted to go straight for the 110 for her since she's already got plenty of seat time on her ATC 70.
Thanks Again!

I got her the 90cc version from Raceway. It should up a couple of days ago and I put it together that night. It fired right up and after adjusting the idle mixture and bumping the idle up just a bit, it runs great. An FYI for prospective buyers, mine came with 4 lug wheels instead of the advertised 3. To me that's a plus, it'll be easier to find wheels in a 4 lug pattern than a 3 when the time comes.

One other thing. Does anyone know what the bolt pattern is on the Kazumas with 4 bolt wheels? It looks like its 4 7/8" or 124mm from the pic on Raceway's site. Is the pattern really that big?

I bought my son a Kazuma 90cc from Raceway and have had nothing but problems with it. Went to assemble it the day before Christmas and the wheels would not fit on the lugs. I had to drill them out in order for them to finally fit. The wheels would lock to either side when going through anything soft and I would have to yank on them and pry to get them unstuck. One of the times that it happened, my son flipped side over side with the quad because of it. The nerf bar/heel guards are useless as my sons size 1 shoe could not fit within the area and use the brake. The brake was too high to manuever while the foot was on the peg. I could go on and on, but I just wanted to let you know some of the issues I have had with my Kazuma and Raceway. Additionally, Raceway has popped on here numerous times when I start squeaking my wheel and ask me to call them and they will rectify the problem. I call and nothing is accomplished, even was told that mine was an isolated incident until I found this site and read many other posts regarding the same problem with the front end. Spend the extra money and purchase something that has had the R&D.

I dont know about the 90cc. I bought a 110cc about three years ago. And yes it is still in operation! I have beat the crap out of it. Sure it has its problems but what do you expect for $900? The biggest problems I have had with it is the clutch went out, and the thing just hates water! As far as the clutch goes it probably would have lasted longer if my 220# butt didnt ride it. Even though it went out it was a cheap and easy fix, go by a honda xr50 clutch instead about $30. The water thing is a whole nother story. I think I finally found how to beat the problem. First the rubber that connects the intake tube to the carb cracks and sucks in water. I replaced this with a piece of inner tube from a bicycle. Then I also built a deflector under the airbox out of a inner tube from a lawn mower and some clamps. Also make sure to check the bolts!!!!!! The motor mount bolts on the bottom keep coming loose! I had to retap to SAE and have put red loctite on them as well and they keep coming loose.
Would I buy another Kazuma? Yes but only for a starter quad. Why spend 2-3 times as much to find out your kid does not want to ride like you hoped. Now that my son is about to outgrow the 110 and still loves too ride I will buy a quad from the big names. But I will still keep the Kazuma to beat on!!!!!!

I could not get mine to start Christmas morning either.
But guess what. YOU HAVE TO PULL IN THE BRAKE LEVER to start your scoot!
I think a lot of folks don't realize that and think the thing is dead.... and go through a lot of headache for nothing. JMO

I have two 110 Falcons. One is 4 years old (bought used) and one is 3 years old I bought new from an unauthorized dealer. I still have them both and they both work great. The only part I've replaced is the battery in one of them. I dunno, they just seem to keep going and going. I'm an adult (160 lbs) and ride them hard. There are some minor issues like: Mushy brakes, broke a light (was able to rig it back up tho), squeaky shocks, but for a grand total of $1300 for 2 quads and for 4 years of use and still going strong, I think that's pretty good value. When I eventually upgrade, I'll probably sell them to my parents for really cheap since they live on land too.

You can add my to the "battery is a piece of crap" club. After only 3 months the battery in my daughter's 90 would be dead every time we went to use it but at least it would hold a charge once I charged it. Now, after about 6 months of owning it the battery is totally done. Its not a HUGE expense but I'm disappointed that I had to spend $50 on a new battery only 6 months after buying it. Just an FYI, it is the same size/model battery as the Suzuki LT450R takes.
