Default Does anyone know what this is and what it's called so I can buy a new one ?

The wires on this part are severed at the base and when I called a parts supply they had no idea what I was talking about .... It rests in the hole between the gear box on the motor and I believe it's what was called a neutral start safety switch and reverse gear sensor .

I can't find it on any wiring diagram and I need a new one

Ant and all help is greatly appreciated

Thank you

It's the gear indicator switch. Standard item on motorcycle engines. They generally have 1 wire for each gear plus a neutral wire. Most likely the same as any Honda clone pit bike engine, Lifan, Zongshen, etc.. Probably find one on Ebay for a couple bucks.

Looks to only have two wires, if so it isn't going to be a gear indicator, except that it will indicate neutral, so will be the sender for the neutral light, or possibly neutral and reverse (if it has reverse). These often double as a lock-out for the starter, being wired so the starter will only work when the neutral light is on, therefore you were right in your guess. Because motorcycles don't have reverse, it may not be a common fitting, if you know the make of engine or Quad (not always what is written on the plastics), you should be able to get the right part.

You just use the wires you need and forget the others.
